Would make a good HC candidate if TC goes. Top 5 defense every year no matter who goes down with an injury. Seems to get the most out of his players.

Eli picks as I saw them
rocco8112 : 11/16/2014 4:20 pm : link
1 -- Great defensive play

2 -- WTF? Although it was intended for Randle

3 -- This was a bad decision, tried to drop it between two guys to Randle.

4 -- Makes throws like this all the time hard and low to the spot. Randle was not in the spot.

5 -- deflection, Eli shuold get a place in Canton for most deflected passes picked. Its unreal.

Worst thing about today's game is the headlines will all shout five picks. Hey it is true , but a shame.

this game is on Eli and the offense. You are not going to win with 5 interceptions. The defense played exceptionally well today considering most of the guys out there should not even be in the NFL. The Giants are a really, really bad team. Really bad... There are so many holes that they will also be a very bad team next year and potentially the year after that. I think you have to make a change to the staff. Coughlin is a phenomenal coach, but all great coaches have a lifespan for a franchise. It's time to move on and build the team into a much more physical team. Talent wins in the NFL. The Giants have little to no talent.

You know otherwise smart people like Colin.

Is it a matter of want or just accepting that that is what is going to happen?

The team isn't firing Jerry Reese any time soon, regardless of what any of us feel should happen. He's going to have some say (not the full 100% say, obviously) in the next HC and will get to find his "own" franchise QB too before they even consider changing GMs.

Pretending that isn't reality or ranting about it is a waste of time.
It's like bizarro world
SHO'NUFF : 11/16/2014 4:21 pm : link
All the coaches sucked today besides Fewell and Quinn. Today's fuckup is on McAdoo. One of the worst called games, offensively, I've ever seen.
Why do all of our good plays
EricJ (formerly Tyleraimee) : 11/16/2014 4:22 pm : link
have to be some kind of circus catch? Can't we just have more plays that were like our first TD? (someone catching an easy pass on the run).

This is not a week to blame the coaching staff.
bceagle05 : 11/16/2014 4:22 pm : link
TC and McAdoo don't coach Eli to throw five picks.

Defense hung in there, special teams played well. Offensive line sucks, and our QB had a brutal game.

Only six more to go!!

Feel for TC! I truly believe he's a much better coach then what we have seen. He definitely is loyal to a fault for example: Quin, Flaherty, Fewell. I believe it definitely is a talent issue that lies at the feet of Reese. If there is going to be wholesale changes, Reese should be held as accountable as anyone else on the staff.

To get the talent, you have to get somebody who can get talent. We have Reese.
Well, we went from about 12th pick to 7th or so in one game.

Keep this up, guys!

Can't believe I'm going to the Jags game during a season like this. May be a chance to see the last win of the TC era. I'd like to shake the guy's hand. Hes been a good HC for us and always gave us 100%, unlike some players.

And do you give JPP $, or Eli an extension after this? Or do you let JPP go and perhaps see what you can get in a trade for Manning? JPP isn't worth the contract he'll get, and Eli is certainly not elite. Elite QBs don't have games like this or years with 27 INTs, even with WRs running awful routes.

BTW, if the officials called the game fairly on that next to last possession, we should have had two PI penalties called for us. Of course the officials didn't have the guts to make those calls.

here is the bottom line. I don't know what "NY Giant Football" is anymore. It's not physical play, that's for sure. This is a soft team. They do not stop the run. They don't run the ball. They can't make 4th and an inch and they try 3 fades and slant when you've got 1st and goal on the 4 yard line with the game in the balance.

This team needs an overhaul. I've said before that I'm a big fan of Coughlin, but what's wrong with this team will take more than a year to fix. With that in mind, it's time for a new regime. A new voice. The Giants will be lucky to finish 6-10 and next week is going to be an absolute embarassment on National TV when the place is filled with Dallas fans as the Cowboys drive the final nail in the coffin.
who is scouting olinemen on this team?
Simms11 : 11/16/2014 4:34 pm : link
Do we have any olinemen worth a shit? Any? I also see absolutely no changes i any of them. No development at all. Flaherty needs to be held accountable too. Its just a mess! And can anyone see it getting better next year?!

The reality is that this team became "soft" back in the 90's when Acorsi began to re-shape the Giants. Yes, we had some snapshots in time when we were anything but soft (ie a couple of playoff runs). However, this team has not been one of those physical teams that other teams dread having to play. Not in a very very long time.
Don't want to hear about Coughlin, Reese, McAdoo or Fewell

that dictates Reese returns or handpicks the next coach.

None. Fans need to get that through their skulls.

While Coughlin's fate maybe decided, the fans can decide Reese's fate if they commit to it. Whether or not they do, is a different topic.
I think they threw the fades
Peter from CT : 11/16/2014 4:40 pm : link
because they had no confidence that the Jerry/Brown combo could give the QB/WR combos time to get open. Might have been the wrong decision but it all started with the right side of the offensive line getting brutalized on every play.

It feels like the 1970s with the line play.
You can hold some of the coaches accountable for
GiantFanInTX : 11/16/2014 4:40 pm : link
the lack of development on the O line and the linebackers, sure. However, no matter who is coaching them, you can't get blood from a stone. I could dedicate the rest of my life to playing and practicing golf, but I'll never make the PGA tour. The fact of the matter is coaching can only do so much. You need the talent to have the success. None of our offensive lineman are worth a shit. Pugh and Richberg are serviceable with room to grow obviously. Outside of them, it is epically awful.
I hope we lose on out
giantsfan227B : 11/16/2014 4:44 pm : link
better draft pick and Mara will have to replace all of the coaches including McAdoo and most likely Reese. Eli will have to take pay cut or Giants should release him. We are in rebuilding mode. No need to have a 20 million dollar QB.

I prevaricate on Reese. I like the last two drafts on paper, I generally like his logic and his selections in the 1st round, but he's not had a lights out draft since 2008. He's had some terrible luck with injuries but he's had a some terrible misses in both the draft and FA. He's not a terrible GM, but I think he's pretty weak, there's a lot of cooks in the Giants drafting pot and I think that's now an issue.

We stink and I too hope we go 3-13. I would like to give Nassib a chance to get his feet wet. I know this won't happen, but does anyone really believe eli is worth 20 million?

Our OL sucks and will suck even more without Pugh. We have no back ups.

First and goal at the four and you throw four straight passes, three of them fades is ludicrous.

Defense played well. What a change from last week.

Really? Hmmmm I am a fan and I can guarantee you that if you gave me a helmet last week, I would have stuck it into Lynch on a few of those TD runs....even if I would have gotten run over. I think you can find quite a few people who would love to at least have the chance. So, to see a group of NFL professionals shy away from the contact is just sickening.
Only Counts In
Percy : 11/16/2014 5:15 pm : link
Well, you know. Game on the line, just a couple of minutes to go, first and four for a TD after one of the most amazing clutch catches made by a Giant in recent memory. What do they do? Three blob fade passes up for grabs, two poorly thrown. They go incomplete. Then what, for the finale? INT #5. Greek comedy!

Beckham excepted (what a waste of heroics today), the cast is too poor -- and too poorly coached and trained -- to compete. Total housecleaning needed, beginning with Reese and whoever else has anything to do with player identification, drafting, and hiring. Doesn't leave much besides Backham, does it?

Mara can't be counted on, I fear. What does he know about what's needed to put together and run a winning team? What has he done about this over the last several years? McAdoo? That's it? So, as many here have predicted, Mara probably will just keep on keeping on. Deer in the headlights. One imagines him murmuring to himself that maybe it will all just go away, that he'll feel better in the morning (or next week or next year), and that it will get better on its own.

It won't, of course.
