Tiki Barber: “It’s time for Tom Coughlin to go.

rbsp7 : 11/17/2014 1:03 pm

everyone's day eventually comes. The difference between Coughlin and Tiki is that TC will leas a respected and loved Giant.

Tiki should have been able to do the same, but his ego got in the way.
I was on the fence before this

but now I hope we re-sign him to a five-year deal and he serves Tiki another Super Bowl shitburger.
I remember that. It was late in the 2006 season.

This, exactly. I'm not his biggest defender, but I've been calling for an end to the boos, and this sure as shit isn't going to help.

Why not earlier?

Because earlier there was still time for Coughlin to turn things around.

Yes.

Carl Banks is the biggest tool doing Giants games now. This is coming from a fan. Blaming the Giants defense for allowing the Niners to score an ungodly 16 points despite the Niners were given 5 takeaways in a NFL game. What a complete joke.

Yep. And it honestly has nothing to do with whether he's right or whether or not he can make a good case for his opinion....piling on Coughlin when the team is spiraling down the toilet is just unbelievably ham-fisted and foolish.
Does anyone actually think that Tiki
eclipz928 : 11/17/2014 1:33 pm : link
isn't self-conscious of how he's perceived by Giants fans and that he doesn't measure his words whenever he criticizes the team? I'll actually give Tiki credit for saying something that apparently the rest of the national sports media is reluctant to say - he has to know that he's gonna get killed for saying it (even though he's right).

I wanted a change at HC anyway but the comment from Coughlin regarding not using the QB sneak on 4th and 1 inch yesterday drove me crazy. His stubborness is ridiculous. It is fourth and ONE inch. There is no other option in the playbook than a QB sneak at that point.

You can tell he has pulled back the reigns on McAdoo as well.

"I’ve held off on saying it, but it is time for them to make a change at Head Coach."

My feelings remain unchanged. Tiki the football player was one of the most exciting players I've ever seen. Loved every minute he wore a Giants uniform.

Tiki the person can go screw himself.

Barber. Selected in the 2nd round out of Virginia, he went on to become one of the most prolific offensive players in NYG history and had some of the best years a RB has ever had in the NFL.

The brother you're thinking of is Ronde. He used to be a CB for the Bucs. They're identical twins.

but he's right. Whats the playoff tally going to be now? Home on the sofa 4 out of 5 years, getting blown out with alarming regularity along the way, and failing miserably at the draft. 47% of the players drafted by the Giants in the last 5 years are out of the league. Not moved on, developing elsewhere, filling ST roles and backup spots. Out of the league, period. Deemed unfit for the NFL by every other franchise. Bad coordinator hires and an unavering blind loyalty to poor coaches that has hampered the STs in particular for 4 or 5 years. He had to be strong armed into letting other coordinators go.

It's all unacceptable. I've posted here for quite awhile, although not nearly as much as I used to. I think the long timers who know my posts would agree that I'm not a knee jerk reactionary. But I want to gut it. Commit to a core group of players and gut it. Beckham, Pugh, Jennings, Richburg, Donnell, ODB, Big Hank, Kennard, Prince, and DRC. Maybe Randle, the talent is so evident at times. There's also gotta be a few guys worth keeping around to develop. New GM, new coach, be uncharacteristically active in FA bc they'll have the cash, make the most of your likely top 10 draft position, and load up for one last run with Eli. He's got at least 4-5 good years of football in him and unless the Giants find themselves in an unlikely Peyton/Luck scenario I hope they're all played here.

But it's time for an overhaul. It's been 10 years and they've given us some of the franchise's most memorable moments. But a decade is a long, long tenure as a HC. Everything runs its course. It's time.

offers up his opinions on the NFL and the Giants every week. It's not like he came out of the woodwork just to pile on Coughlin here. It's only at choice moments that people shine a spotlight on his comments.

But this is dumb and just seems like Tiki is piling on.

No idea why he needs to chime in on this, especially given his history with Coughlin.

He might be right, who knows, but he should have really STFU on this one for once.
