Do people still prefer Zack Martin over him? Amazing the impact he has on the field. Just watch the first drive last week. It's why Randle and Donnell were running wide open in the middle of the field. 49ers had 3 defenders watching OBJ.
Or Kelvin Benjamin more, we needed a WR badly. Beckam is the goods though. What troubled me the most about his college career is that he was easily taken away by defenses. If we have the weapons to take advantage of that attention, great, if not he will disappear at times. It does appear that he won't be going away despite tight coverage, his hands are just that good. I'm delighted to be wrong.
about a lot of people on BBI. It is great to have OBJ, no question, he is special. But, no skill player can do anything in the NFL if he does not have an offensive line that allows the quarterback to have time to make these throws.
It starts and ends really with the offensive and defensive lines in the NFL. You can have all the skilled players you want but if your offensive line is as bad as what we have you will not go anywhere.
...but I don't think you can say that a team can just "grab a Zach Martin in the next draft." The guy is playing pro-bowl level football as a rookie. He's not just interchangeable with any other first round OL pick.
If it was so easy to pick quality starting OL we wouldn't be in the mess we are now.
that OBJ is everything I thought he was going to be and more. One of the lone bright spots on offense this year. Provided he stays healthy, he has a chance to become one of the best WR's this franchise has ever had.
Get an offensive lineman in the draft next year to give Eli some time to throw it to him more and maybe another weapon, and this offense can be special.
OBJ + Richburg.....that's really the question....if the Giants take Martin the miss out on their All Pro WR of the future...Clearly Reese made the right choice selecting 2 starters instead of one..l can make an argument that both starters the Giants selected will be Pro Bowl caliber players in 3 years
If I can have Martin and richburg I'd prob still go that route even with OBJ being so special. Richburg prob stays at center and Martin at guard which would have only helped Pugh's development. Then of course take Borland in round 3. Hindsight is beautiful.
much happier with this draft. The Hands, Balance, Change of Direction, Routes, and Competitiveness are a uniquely blended skillset. I'd like to pair him with a bigger guy, either in the seem as a TE or an outside threat.

And this is what is so frustrating about your kind, Mike. It wasn't OBJ vs a particular lineman. We could have drafted OBJ and then drafted a lineman instead of Bromley for example.
We can be happy with OBJ AND be discouraged with other drafting that was less-than-stellar.
Before annointing him our savior, remember he is one leg injury away
from being just another player, ala Jeremy Shockey, ala Hakeem Nicks. I Want to get excited about him but its hard when you look at the myriad of other holes and apaulling lack of depth on this team
I don't see where replacing Bromley with another rookie OL
we can grab a zack martin next draft. a talent like OBJ doesn't come that often. Let's see what happens when schwartz comes back.
These statements always make me wonder if fans actually pay much attention to the happenings across the NFL or if they operate within their NYG bubble.
Beckham is a very exciting talent and is one of the few bright spots this season but his draft class alone has produced quite a few receivers that are having similarly, or perhaps more impressive rookie seasons including Mike Evans (drafted before), Kelvin Benjamin, Brandin Cooks, and Jordan Matthews. I wont imply that quality linemen are exceedingly rare but what exactly makes anyone think that a talent like Beckham doesn't come along often when similar talents came around often enough just via the last draft?

Plus, he seems to have a lot of heart and a loss appears to affect him as much as it does a rabid fan.
