time to reboot this team, gm, coaches, players. Modernize for today's NFL. It would be nice to actually see our player a game like they were prepared properly and give effort.
Right now we look like a govt agency, lots of talk, lots of activity and plans, but no productivity or results that matter.
RE: Let me also add this really doesn't solve the BIGGEST problem
The BIGGEST problem has been with the choices that have been made with regards to the PERSONNEL of this team. over the last 3 years the choices have just not been good, and regardless of the coaching, the talent has undermined a lot of that and the coaches haven't been able to develop enough players to field a playoff contender.
The coaching is also a big factor, and you should not let them off. I find it hard to believe that the majority of the guys on our roster could not be coached up to play at the levels we need. Coaching fail. That nobody linebacker for the Niners was making plays all over the field on Sunday.
With how bad this thing is right now. Bad teams can turn things around with the current regime maintained. I'm not saying I want coughlin to stay but I'm also not sure I want him fired.
Words like disaster and blow it up fit the commentary but did coughlin forget how to coach? Or did the talent sink below the water mark?
Again, not saying I want him back but I am nervous that the next coach won't be right for the job and with a little roster tinkering coughlin can turn this ship around.
He was not a special talent when he was here and has been less than stellar since leaving in a variety of roles. Plus, that move would stink of grooming the next HC and I want no part of him as a HC.
Let's bring back Spags! Let's bring back Parcells!
I love Spags, but what the hell has he done since he left?
Let's just draft well, and if we need to make any coaching changes, let's get some up and coming guys that can grow with the team.
For that matter, he didn't exactly light it up when he was here. The D got very hot at the right time for a SB run. The rest of his time, they were a mediocre D that got good pressure up front.
Maybe coughlin has had a big say in personnel and much of the roster failures are on him. I've always respected coughlin's team building prowess so maybe I need to take that into account. I killed fassel and reeves for the lack of talent and overall direction, I guess it's fair to get on coughlin too.
RE: RE: I like Spagnuolo, I'd welcome him back here.
A 1 year competition to determine the next head coach? I should have stopped reading at that point. What would Tom Coughlin do, officiate?
McAdoo hasn't shown anything so far. So why do so many people think in the next season and a half he'll not only prove himself as an offensive coordinator, but be ready to be a head coach?. Fewell needs to go.(Quinn too) Tom Coughlin is too old, so he won't be here the next time they are good enough to be something in the playoffs. All new coordinators putting in new systems and learning their jobs with retirement looming? The next head coach will want to bring in his own staff.
As for Spags, I wouldn't mind him coming back as a DC or HC. Look how well Belicheck did after a few year break from his first head coaching job.
half on only having maybe 2 healthy impact players (Rolle/DRC, maybe JPP) and the other is Fewell. I'm not going to pretend that I watch tons of film or say Fewell doesn't know hot to blitz because i'd be lying like most others who boast.
But one thing I do know is there needs to be both an influx in new talent and new philosophy. I think we got the philosophy part down on offense with McAdoo (whether Coughlin holds him back is for another thread), but we've been so stale on D that i'd love to bring back a familiar face that came up with a fresh D to throw at one of the best SB runs in the history of the game.

I hate this.
I'd take anyone over Fewell really. But, I wouldn't want to look forward with Spags. I'd like a true and significant upgrade at DC.

but he's not the panacea some think he will be and he's not turning this defense into the 2007 Giants.
Agree with Mr Shep.

Williams Kennard McClain
Prince DRC Rolle Taylor
top 10 defense.
LOL!
True, true... however you shouldn't let that steer clear thinking. You know, the whole "Even a broken clock" thing.
