Was about to pull the trigger on a new TV for my man cave and was talked out of it by a friend who said I should wait until black friday/cyber Monday. Was looking to get a Samsung 55" curved for $1700
Anyone know of any deals that will be out there, or any TVs that are better performing/buys than that one? Always get good info from the BBI folks on this type of stuff but didn't find anything when searching for Black Friday.

Probably no need to wait until Black Friday and deal with all the loonies. There are deals every week

That Stan is the biggest advocate for them is all you need to know.
Supposedly it helps with immersion. I think it's nothing more than a gimmick, like those 4K tvs now. I'm of the mindset that you don't need much more than a 1080p, 120 hz flat screen, and a nice surround system to got top quality entertainment.
I just found this today and it seems to be a highly-reviewed picture. I might just jump on it and avoid Black Friday madness altogether. 2 HDMI.. but that should work for my parents' set up.
Anyone have this TV want to chime in? - ( New Window )

can't figure out why someone would buy a curved TV, maybe there's something I'm missing

4k might be a gimmick right now because nothing is broadcast in 4k, but down the road 4k will absolutely not be a gimmick, but that's probably years away.
Curved tv's is a gimmick that will be a gimmick 20 years from now. I just don't see the point, i know they are trying to sell something new to you but its not worth the bump in price and never will be imo
Samsung has black friday deal 65' curved 4K HD 960 refresh rate TV for $1999. Go to there website to pre-order.
Those are the best 2 deals I've seen.

Kind of want to snag that for my bed room, haha. No frills set that will get the job done, no question.
Go to slickdeals.net hot deals forum, you will find a good deal on any sized TV you want over the next couple weeks

In the store or fully calibrated? There's a big difference between a store display and a TV that has been correctly calibrated.
What technology plasma/led etc should I go with? What's the best for this viewing angle

Sidenote: we decided to get a projector so we can show movies for the girls outside and to also use inside. I'm really enjoying using it inside and the picture is like 6 feet by 4 feet--it's huge. And I think we paid $350 for it?
One improtant note about Samsung TV's...they use different panels in them that DO effect the picture quality. Google Samsung panel lottery to learn more. You wan to make sure your TV has a Samsung panel.
Right on queue. Did you spend too much on an LED and this pointless line is that angst coming to the surface? They don't make Oldsmobile anymore, but guess what, you can still buy gas for them if you own one.
