NEW DELHI—
India is racing to build toilets by 2019 for 600 million people or roughly half the population which lacks access to sanitization. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has put it high on the national agenda, but the challenge could be daunting in a country where defecating in the open is a common sight and is accepted by many as normal.

But they have about a hundred nuclear warheads. Priorities.

Cross India off my must visit countries
Of course we have poverty and homelessness in this nation...
RC02XX : 11/20/2014 7:48 am : link
that needs to be addressed, but you're talking about a nation with such disparity between the "haves" and the "have nots" that a large swath of the population lacks basic sanitation. Not sure why this is even worth any kind of contrarian shit or even criticism/snark.

Fucking BBI at its best.
now I feel

crappy
Toilets will be great...
BMac : 11/20/2014 8:10 am : link
...Of course, when the toilet flushes right into the street, maybe this isn't such a great idea.
I've been to India

on the railroad tracks is real popular. Don't get the logic in that. If you're a little constipated that day you can get run over.
A lot of poor nations

Tend to shit in a box because they have no plumbing close. This is good news for many. You can tell the countries when you get off the plane and smell the air.

I was in Hyderabad last year for work and one of the days we were heading to the base and sure as shit (no pun intended), there was a guy just taking a dump on the side of the road.

Didn't even care that there were cars going by...

Actually it helps combat constipation! If you get close enough to the moving train, it will scare the shit out of you!

All kidding aside, i recall a scene from slumdog millionaire, where you see the squalor and poor sanitary conditions. This will definitely put a bite into cleaning up these conditions.
did I just say this
