NFT: NHL Admits Mistake In Game 2 of Cup

Essex : 11/20/2014 8:33 am
Said it should have been goalie interference after all.

Still bothers me. Anyway, sorry if someone posted this, but I did not see it and I thought my fellow Rangers fans would be equally angry that the NHL blew such an obvious goalie interference.

I touched on that.

I honestly think it could go either way and I'm surprised the NHL decided to out themselves on it.

While I do think the wrong call was made, I also do think there was the grey area you alluded to, which is why I share your surprise.
.....
BrettNYG10 : 11/20/2014 10:15 am : link
The gripe is that the call wasn't reviewable. That's bullshit. If they review it, they get the call right.

That's why I'm more annoyed at this than the call on Zucc in game 5. This call should have been taken out of the refs hands.
And Greg/MetsAreBack
Mike in Long Beach : 11/20/2014 10:16 am : link
I'm not here to try to piss off Rangers fans. Ultimately I agree with you. I just find whining about it to be ridiculous and blaming the series on 1 bad call even worse (again, not that you or any of the other posts on this thread are).
So if no one is doing that (blaming entire series on one call)...
MetsAreBack : 11/20/2014 10:19 am : link
why do you keep mentioning it?

This topic only came up again... because the NHL for some reason decided in November of the next regular season to finally admit what the rest of us knew for 6 months.
I knew that was goalie interference the second I saw it
MadPlaid : 11/20/2014 10:20 am : link
Bullshit call, and just fucking annoying that they are admitting it now. That call turns the series.
Sorry, MAB

this may not go over well on here, but have you been on a Rangers thread and not seen whining about the refs. Ever?

I only go on Rangers threads if they play the Canadiens or maybe a playoff game, so my sample is somewhat limited, but it's consistent.

It's like being on a Yankees thread.

lol

See pjcas' most recent post. No offense, but you guys don't have the most level-headed reputation. I didn't want to say it, but since you asked....
This is about as comforting as the NFL admitting that
Victor in CT : 11/20/2014 10:24 am : link
Seubert was interfered with on the botched FG in the SF playoff game after the 2002 season.
Went ahead and fixed this for you

Oh and who are you kidding that you are only on there for Habs threads? We must look stupid to you. Dont answer that.
game threads?
pjcas18 : 11/20/2014 10:26 am : link
I rarely go on Rangers threads, it's no lie.

why would I make that up?

I'm not sure
MetsAreBack : 11/20/2014 10:28 am : link
but this notion that you only drop by for Habs games... give me a break.

Anyway, all teams fans complain about officiating, including your fellow Habs fans. Obviously. Focusing on Rangers and Yankees fans because you dont personally care for those teams... childish.
oh please....no one's blaming the series on one call
Greg from LI : 11/20/2014 10:28 am : link
What we've consistently said is that the Kings were the better team, and getting jobbed like this made it virtually impossible to have a chance to upset them.

Same. Anak is the ringleader with that shit. Rangers, Giants, you name it.
hey, look, it's another member of the celebrate in November brigade
Greg from LI : 11/20/2014 10:31 am : link
Win a fucking playoff series. Until then, shut the fuck up and know your place.
Well OK Mook and maybe Phil

... sometimes go a little over the top, but go drop in on a Giants thread when we're a competitive team and take a step back and tell me how you'd view that from an opposite team's fan perspective?

Its not like ExtremeSkins, Igglesfans, and whatever the fuck site the Habs have would be any different (and the Habs for years have drawn a lot more penalties than they've taken... i'm not opining on refereeing, i'm just pointing to the cold hard PIM numbers which favor the Habs)
Greg
Dave M : 11/20/2014 10:36 am : link
What exactly is my place? Am I to not ever to comment on crybaby rag threads when you guys routinely shit on us in our threads? You guys lost. Get over it. I agree on one thing. Last year was your chance. Too bad you blew it.

I suppose you're right. The difference is, the vast majority of the lunatics posting that shit on the Giants game threads are people who don't exist on this board beyond ranting and raving there.

With the Rangers threads, most of you guys are solid contributors, knowledgeable fans and decent people (except Greg), and the bitching is incongruous with what you'd expect.
It's true in the past, but
pjcas18 : 11/20/2014 10:38 am : link
this year though the habs are closer the top in opposing team penalty minutes.

Giants thread are the worst. Agree on that, but I don't post on them or even read them - for years.

You've obviously never met Mook LOL
MetsAreBack : 11/20/2014 10:39 am : link

I have. Good kid, but he wears his heart on his sleeve and heart and brain sometimes dont talk to each other first :)

I already arranged to be put in a home at 30 - as it should be.
I turn 30 in a little less than 6 months.
Mike in Long Beach : 11/20/2014 10:52 am : link
I am terrified.
older = richer
MetsAreBack : 11/20/2014 10:52 am : link
Sad truth is you can pull a lot more hot tail in your 30s than you could in your 20s. When its already too late and you're married with kids.

And that's me - i had a lot more game than Brett ever has to begin with. Can only imagine how long the intervals are between when Brett gets laid.
30 wasn't bad
pjcas18 : 11/20/2014 10:55 am : link
35 hit like a ton of bricks, that's when your body starts to break down and stuff you could do easily as a youngster now isn't as easy and you have a longer recovery time.
.
arcarsenal : 11/20/2014 10:58 am : link
I just turned 30.

I'll get married when I'm 35 and I start to break down and need someone to do shit for me.
Thought it was an obvious call at the time
Kyle in NY : 11/20/2014 10:59 am : link
The NHL acknowledging it does sting, but at least we know we weren't crazy for thinking we got screwed in that particular instance.

Also, you guys are fucking old.

wait til you hit 50. Prediction: Paaaaiiiin.

Everything hurts after a day of yard work. Recovery time much longer
You know when it really hit me?
Greg from LI : 11/20/2014 11:04 am : link
When pro athletes my age started being called "grizzled veterans". It gets harder to ignore when, as is the case now, there are only a handful of players your age or older.
.....
BrettNYG10 : 11/20/2014 11:10 am : link
I was crushed when the guys drafted were younger than me. I realized I'd never make it then.

Of course, I didn't start playing until I was 19, but still.
Absurd non call
GeneInCal : 11/20/2014 11:27 am : link
Hate the Kings and their fans.
the way I see it
mfsd : 11/20/2014 12:23 pm : link
the Rangers would have needed to get all the breaks to beat the Kings, and we didn't get them. This is an example. No use crying about it now.

Oh, and fuck the NHL

Ahmad Bradshaw was a turning point for me. He went from a young tough RB to an old man with nothing left (according to some)... all the while younger than me, lol

I cling to Jagr and almost hope the Devils make a little noise in the playoffs as a last ditch effort to save some of my youth. Well, I'm not really rooting for them, but when I first started watching sports in 1993 at 7-8 years old, Jagr was an athlete I was aware of. There weren't many. Just the superstars in each league. Him and Lemieux were two of maybe 6 or 7 non-Islanders I was aware of.

So the reason I would sorta like it if the Devils somehow got to the Eastern Conference finals is, with my birthday in early May, that would mean there'd be an athlete who was not only playing, but exceling when I first started watching sports at 7 years old, and that athlete would still playing after my 30th birthday.
seems like the only break
Enzo : 11/20/2014 12:41 pm : link
we got was the "snow fort" in game 4. And even with that they still needed OT to get 3 of their 4 wins. A little puck luck and we win or we're potentially looking at an epic 7 game series.
I remember getting a Jagr rookie card in 1991 when I was in 10th grade
Greg from LI : 11/20/2014 12:41 pm : link
So, yeah, he's hung in there
He is the last athlete left from my beginnings in sports.
Mike in Long Beach : 11/20/2014 12:51 pm : link
Once he retires, there will be no one left from that first year where I stopped asking the old man to put on cartoons and turn off the stupid game.
......
BrettNYG10 : 11/20/2014 12:59 pm : link
Jagr's been playing longer than I've been alive.
Martin St Louis
pjcas18 : 11/20/2014 1:22 pm : link
was on a line at UVM with a high school teammate of mine.

He's significantly younger than Jagr and his NHL career began much later, but I think he's my last "link" to the league through 6 degrees of separation from pjcas18.

Any Wolfpack followers (from like 95 - 2003) might know the name Todd Hall, he was on that high school team too, but he never made it beyond the wolf pack.

MSL is 4 years younger than Jagr
Greg from LI : 11/20/2014 2:51 pm : link
I guess that's significant enough, but once you're pushing 40 as an athlete it doesn't much matter.
