Weird, right? I wonder if Weatherman could explain how something like that happens.
They are expecting another 3 feet
Matt M. : 11/20/2014 11:58 am : link
before tomorrow, too.

On the sports related angle, from a human interest perspective...Mario Williams showed up at Jim Kelly's house and plowed his driveway.
Where the hell do you put

all that snow?
one of our kids lives not too far from there - he said
Del Shofner : 11/20/2014 12:01 pm : link
it's very localized - there are places that have almost no snow not far from the places that have eight feet or whatever. Those pics of the clouds seem consistent with that. Weird!
Tom prob heard the forecast
JCin332 : 11/20/2014 12:04 pm : link
and flew up in advance...!!

His handle is Tom[Giants fan], but he goes crazy for snow and snow stories.
Thanks.
Matt M. : 11/20/2014 12:15 pm : link
I thought he was referring to Coughlin confusing the fact that the Jets play there this weekend and not the Giants.
Yeah, he 's from LI
Jon from PA : 11/20/2014 12:16 pm : link
I remember he had some health issues (I think) and he hasn't posted in a while. I hope he's ok.
no thanks

Yip, Tom loves his snow...
okiegiant : 11/20/2014 12:37 pm : link

Yeah - I went to undergrad up there and am still in touch with a half a dozen or so people. My friends are in areas that didn't get much. One of them said that they only got a few inches, but 8 miles away they had four feet or so. Pretty crazy.

Jon, they probably load up large trailers with it and dump it into the lake. Not sure if they do that or how environmentally sound it is, but that's my guess.
Some good photos linked

Even more dramatic to come in a day or so, I suspect.

I like this comment to them:

Quote:

Weatherman agree. Your geography is wrong. There are 6 great lakes. Not 5. They are:

1. Lake Erie
2. Lake Ontario
3. Lake Superior
4. Lake Michigan
5. Lake Huron
6. Lake Effect

Two phrases now deeply embedded into our active vocabulary: lake effect and polar vortex.
Link - ( New Window )
It will be interesting to see what they do regarding the game

I would think they would have to decide in the next 24 hours or so, due to logistics..

I went to school in Buffalo and IIRC, they move it (dump trucks) to the lake.
Yeah weird, they initially called
mjvm52106 : 11/20/2014 2:49 pm : link
for snow right down the heart of Buffalo but the storm veered wide right of the town.
