it's very localized - there are places that have almost no snow not far from the places that have eight feet or whatever. Those pics of the clouds seem consistent with that. Weird!

Yeah - I went to undergrad up there and am still in touch with a half a dozen or so people. My friends are in areas that didn't get much. One of them said that they only got a few inches, but 8 miles away they had four feet or so. Pretty crazy.
Jon, they probably load up large trailers with it and dump it into the lake. Not sure if they do that or how environmentally sound it is, but that's my guess.
Weird, right? I wonder if Weatherman could explain how something like that happens.
On the sports related angle, from a human interest perspective...Mario Williams showed up at Jim Kelly's house and plowed his driveway.
Um...the Giants Fan?

Weatherman agree. Your geography is wrong. There are 6 great lakes. Not 5. They are:
1. Lake Erie
2. Lake Ontario
3. Lake Superior
4. Lake Michigan
5. Lake Huron
6. Lake Effect
Two phrases now deeply embedded into our active vocabulary: lake effect and polar vortex.
