I sat down with my friends last night at the Borgota to play Let it Ride. There was one seat open and the guy sitting next to me was a big guy. We were crammed into the spot and then the person to his right got up. He asked the dealer if he could move over to give each of us more room. I told him thanks he asked me my name and he said I am Ron. When he said Ron I realized then who he was and said as in Ron Greschner and he laughed and said yes you have heard of me? I told him just a little but that I hope it was okay but that I was an Islander's fan. He just laughed. He played with cards with my friends and I took some pictures with them as they were Ranger fans. He told me he thought this was going to be a fun year for hockey in NY. He thouight the best move the Islanders made was getting Boychuk. He could not believe Boston traded him. Told me he thinks Halak was a solid move and he thought the Islanders were going to be a team to be reckoned with this year and the future. He said he like the Rangers, but he did not think the are playing with the passion they did at the end of last year. He said it is tough after you get so close. He feels though they will get it together and thinks they will be there because of their goalie at the end. I asked him so be serious Islanders or Rangrs at the end this year. He said would you expect me to say anything different of course the Rangers. He just laughed and I said is that your heart or your mind speaking and he said his heart. He was absolutely great. Told me he is in the correctional facilities business. I said you mean jails and he smiled and said yeah jails. Terrific person always say whenever you meet a hockey player they are such down to earth people.
Who cares? I'd like to hear more about Carol Alt. "discussed in a round about way but will leave it alone". WTF? You can't tease us like that and then not divulge. Spill the beans 12!
So true, he was very deliberate moving up the ice but had great hands and a deft touch. Actually said hello to him Wednesday night after the Philly game as he was hanging out with a few buddies at Cafe31. Gresch is a big boy.
