Isles begin a home-and-home with the Yinztown Crying Marios tonight. Ahrn City no doubt flowing at
The Igloo Consol.
As the early crew noted, Chad Johnson in for Halak, taking on the flower. Tomorrow will feature Halak against Greiss.
While Grabner did make the trip, he'll be held out tonight.
Forward lines:
Nelson - Tavares - Kulemin
Grabovski - Nielsen - Okposo (FNGO part deux, if you will)
Lee - Strome - Bailey
Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck
D-pairs: Leddy-Boychuk, Hamonic-CDH, Hickey-Viz
Programming note to you folks in the Tri-State area: tonight's game will be seen on MSG given the postponement of the game between the other two New York teams in the place where all the snow is.

BIG win. Way to not fold. These wins are crucial, not just because of the points, but because it's a huge confidence boost. Beating the likes of Boston, LA, SJ, Anaheim, Rangers, Avs convincingly and the Pens should let them know that it's just not that they can play with anyone, but that they can beat anyone.
blah blah blah....drive for five alive. You won a skills comp and want the Hempstead closed down tomorrow?
Isles fans are the new Redskins/Jets fans (well all four of them).
How does it feel to not be liked by anyone from any of the teams you like?
LMAO, you fucking joke of a DNA strand. Bye!
Ha. Love it.
What was the fan pct in pitts tonight fellas?
I would go with the Eagles. Seems to fit your profile.

Like clockwork... what a little bitch!!!
KW is killing me here.
Fish JT almost win the game in regulation with a great pass to Hickey. He right now is playing against a lot of solid teams and seeing their best defensive forwards. He is playing much better 2 way hockey. Will take a win whether he scores or not.
Go home and eat Cheesy Poofs with your "mother"

I think JT playing 2 way hockey is very overstated to make him feel better about his terrible offensive play. His linemates are pretty much the only - players on the team right now
At the Phantoms game I watched our old boy Haley play for the sharks. Spent the whole game in the box. Beat the shit out of a guy twice his size.
I should be in an allentown bar, knowing Haley he's getting blitzed.
over came some injuries and looks like a solid player.
CDH? Love him. Mentioned later last season I love how well he skates, makes the great, accurate breakout pass, is positionially sound (most of the time, more in a second), dependable defenseman who can also jump in offensively. Remember, CDH came from the same draft as JT. The Islanders traded Chris Campoli and Mike Comrie to Ottawa for the Senators’ first round pick in the 2009 draft and Dean McAmmond. Snow then parlayed his chips to get to the #12 slot (coincidentally, Nick Leddy was drafted at #16 in the same draft). The Isles scouting staff certainly saw a lot of things they liked to grab him. I can definitely see he's a quality player.
Where he does have to work better, though, is staying with his man through the crease/slot. I've seen him both tentative or unsure picking in a man approaching off the boards towards the goalmouth, or he sometimes shuffles his feet and is a step behind leading to scores.
I think he does nothing but improve that facet, and as we've seen this year, he is building into being more physical to positive result. I think he has the most chance of our current d-men to develop into a better than average overall defenseman. Big fan. But I also like Boychuk as well as Leddy. The more I see of Leddy, who has some minor defensive flaws that should also improve, I really like his game. He has plus skills. And of course, between Pulock, Reinhart and Pedan, there's interesting skill sets that will emerge and present opportunity. Certainly nice to have depth.

I always expected he'd do well. Defensemen almost never excel right away, physically, they just can't. I watched DeHaan a good bit in junior, and with Canada's teams. He always had the goods. He's just 23, and still growing a bit.
I'm honestly not sure how to respond to a de Haan basher at this point. He is steady. He is a good skater and I trust him in the defensive zone. He's only going to get better.
Haley is on the Sharks, the opposing team. To night they play st johns ice caps.

De Haan does the lazy no hit style in his zone. Yes, he is steady when it comes to getting the puck and moving it up ice but you're either being a homer or not watching close enough. The tying goal, malkin has the puck along the board and de haan is in no mans land and he does the typical isles dman laziness, put my stick down and hope for the best. He needs to go at Malkin and make him do something not let him sit there and survey the ice and make that pass for the goal.
Every other dman has been playing much more aggressive and less of the stick down stuff. Viz is the best example last night. On a play behind his net he skated with the bigger pens player who had the puck, in thevpast our dman would just shadow and keep his stick down in the passing lane, but Viz put his shoulder into the guy and just took the puck right away. Thats how our D has to play. We have seen them doing this more and eliminating the AMac way of playing(flopping like a fish around the net)
If you are gonna question a guy like Grabner finding a spot because everyone is playing so well, then you have to admit that a DMan can also be pushed out for playing weak. Pulock made this team in camp, he got hurt and lost that spot for some assinine reason but he is wrecking bridgeport and he is ready to push for a spot on the club. Just my opinion but I think de Haan right now is the guy he is pushing
Also, the fourth line played well again. Martin scored off a nice snap shot. Again, with Grabner lurking, guys are fighting for playing time. Even the competition in practice is making this team better.
The Isles did not have their "A" game, and won in Pittsburgh with their backup goalie, in November (a month that has killed this team in the past). Maybe this team is pretty good after all.
I guess I'm just not seeing what you're seeing because I'm not looking for it. I see a player who is positionally sound with above average puck handling.
I just dont see the love affair with de haan. Hickey is a better version of him at this time.,
I guess with the depth we can continue with de haan but I think a Pulock would bring a bigger body and a sick shot to the D.
And mea culpa...I shortchanged us on the W-L record. 13-6. I hope I didn't jinx us for later. That post was prior to morning coffee (for once, the kids let us sleep in late!). Forgive me, o merciful deity that is JT...
I love how the D has the look up and make the outlet pass first mentality.
Directly resulted in Martin's goal, even though MAF probably should have saved that.
Big key to tonight will be staying out of the box again.
Grabbing these 27th and 28th points will be huge

Hickey also has more experience. Viz and CdH are bound to get hurt again and I have seen enough of Strait to know that I would rather see what Pulock can offer. I like the progress Nick Leddy has made this year

Yes, because we wanted to make certain hudson interjected with his usual nonsense.

But our shooters do not double touch the puck
You are right about Hickey. He's been a better version of the same player. Both are not physical and both are positional players. Hickey has been very good this year.
I'm just not down on cdh yet... In general he been good.
He doesn't really post much anymore and I find him easy to ignore. He dominates threads with people telling him to go fuck himself, though (this one it's well deserved)
He actually occasionally has solid posts when he discusses the game instead of his trolling bullshit.

Training in the offseason with Tavares is must for all these guys. The present and future is bright.
Round two, boys.
