I hope a beat writer asks Coughlin

Essex : 11/24/2014 12:04 am
Because he is the head coach, whether he thinks rushing four against a qb with a bad back was the best way to defend the last three minutes. Romo said you get protection like he got on the TD pass 3 times a year, he got it twice on one drive. TWICE!!!
How do you not tell Fewell to rush the qb to help your defense out.
Dallas OL

Dallas made the OL a priority. Nobody should be shocked Romo had great protection.

Did you iss the Washington game like Fewell?
Don't give me Dallas OL

On one play Kiwi stop rushing and then remembered that Romo still had the ball. It was comical if you're not a Giants fan. Then Kuhn collapsed towards Romo after he throws it.
The logic of rushing four in that moment
BlackLight : 11/24/2014 12:16 am : link
is that, if you blitz and don't get home, then Romo is outside the pocket, where you definitely don't want him, and there's one less person back in coverage.

Even rushing four, you can't expect the QB is going to get 7+ seconds on two plays to sit in the pocket and wait for someone to come open.
The logic of rushing four went out the window the first time

He got 8 seconds.

Not really. The odds are against that situation happening twice on the same drive.
I would rather he blitz a few guys
PetesHereNow : 11/24/2014 1:15 am : link
and if they beat the blitz, it leaves Eli more time to get the tying FG or go-ahead TD.
Nope...
damdevs : 11/24/2014 1:16 am : link
Just make sure Kuhn and Hankins are on the field and leave Moore and Ayers sitting there to watch.

Genius!
I don't mind Hankins
PetesHereNow : 11/24/2014 1:19 am : link
but Kuhn on the field in that spot is ridiculously bad. It would be nice to get McClain off the field in the dime defense too. He's way too slow.
The OL looked better
dep026 : 11/24/2014 1:21 am : link
because stiffs like Kuhn and Kiwi were in there. I mean seriously, did we expect them to get pressure?

Yup..some of the most idiotic defensive calls i have ever seen.
I hope a beat writer asks T.C. why he played not to lose.
Phil in Joisey : 11/24/2014 1:26 am : link
The opening series of the second half was disgraceful. Only the immediate world knew that the Giants with a lead and the ball to start the second half would have to "establish the run". No keep the foot on the pedal for the Giants...not with T.C. at the helm. Eli was so red hot in the first half I guess the Giants felt he couldn't keep it up.
Coughlin has no one to blame but himself
oipolloi : 11/24/2014 3:15 am : link
His "establishing" the run has entered the category of the absurd. You have a stud in OBJ and, he and Eli sliced up the Dallas defense in the first half. And on the first two series of the second you come out running the ball on first and second down?

Coughlin's mistake was not leaving on top after 2011 a la Parcels.

Ever since then, he has coached in a much more close-minded fashion. Where is the coach who self-scouted and transformed the way he did things after the 2006 season? It's like he started to believe his own press clippings.
