Get good on one side of the ball

kepler20 : 11/24/2014 1:51 am
tahts how you win in the nfl. Define yourself, possess an identity, and then funnel your game plan through the dominant side of the ball. Just like how Dallas, Philadelphia, Broncos, Seahawks, 49ers, Indy have.

Beckham appears to be transcendent enough that we need to build out our offense.

Draft a tackle
Draft a WR
Draft a RB

Whatever.. Don't play for the middle and build out the offense to be a superior and clear strength

And Fire coughlin while you're at it.
Agree that we should

focus on making the O dominant. There are not really any great defenses anymore anyway and we are closer on O. We need one side at least to carry us.

Disagree about firing Coughlin. Give him the horses. He is a proven winner.
Coughlin preaches balance

for every bust we draft on offense, we must draft a bust on defense.

Not bad. Not bad at all.
I'd focus on
chris r : 11/24/2014 2:28 am : link
a) strengthening both lines. I think we need two new starters on each line.
b) getting another playmaker on offense. It doesn't matter if its WR, TE or RB, just get another player that concerns defenses.
c) getting one or two good S or LBs.

So basically I think we're about 5 or 6 good players away.
We need a guard desperately
bigblueheadache : 11/24/2014 5:54 am : link
G, big WR, and a two-way TE. On D, you need players at every level. But I agree that we should focus on O and let a new, smart DC figure out how to get the D to play at least better.
Martellus Bennett would have meant more wins this season.
idinkido : 11/24/2014 6:08 am : link
Letting him go was one of the major mistakes this administration made. Bennett is a productive receiver and in my opinion one of the best and most effective blockers in the NFL. We all know the OL must be rebuilt and our focus should also be on getting a reliable 2 way TE.
Balance
stretch234 : 11/24/2014 6:23 am : link
I have thought about this for a while. Be dominant on 1 side of the ball. Trying to be good on both almost does not work

Indy - offense
Denver - offense
GB - offense
SF - Defense
Sea - Decemse
Dal - offense
Phi - Offense
NE - Offense

Become exceptional at 1 and mask the other

The Offensively dominant Eagles shut the Giants out and the defensively dominant Seahawks put up 38 points.
HELP!
Its time to get back to no prisoners Giants defense...
silverfox : 11/24/2014 7:35 am : link
...and screw these offensive minded coaches that think we can abandon Giants tradition, and score our way to the promised land. Only the Wrangler-led Rams have managed to fool us for one year into believing that your defense can suck and still win a championship.

Yes our OL is a joke...but worse, so is our DL, LBs, and safeties that couldn't execute a blitz if the apposing OL laid down.

The offense was broken last year...can't wait to hear from Mara that the defense is broken this year. No way we lose that game last week even with 5 turn-overs, or this week if our defense could play like an even an average NFL defense.

Warner led Rams

sorry.
Umm the Pats
bignygfan : 11/24/2014 8:41 am : link
are good on both sides of the ball.

They just added Revis, I mean.

Their running backs aren't studs. They just continually have a great o-line.
This is a balanced team
SwirlingEddie : 11/24/2014 9:17 am : link
They're bad at everything.
That's Terry Bradshaw's theory also
haper : 11/24/2014 10:02 am : link
While I don't think Bradshaw is a talent evaluator or GM material; he was on one of the radio shows and said he would rebuild by building up one side; and preferred building the defense side. Once that is set then build a running game and get a QB outside of the 1st round, someone like WIlson, Mettenberger, Kaepernick; so you're not spending so much money on one position.

He was asked the question on his regular Joe and Evan spot and it was in the context of the Jets and Giants; although he didn't come right out and say the Giants should get rid of Eli.
