He played well last night, but when it was on the line in the 4th Q he and the rest of that sieve of a defense came up small, when the media looked for comment from JPP after the game.......he was gone.
What happened last night proved to me that every component of this defense again did not come to play.
1. The coaching was pathetic, they absolutely NEVER get home on a blitz.
2. The GM has infused crap wearing blue uni's.
3. The players never can summon up their talents to make one big stop when needed
So...coaching, GM, lack of leadership
I wouldn't break the bank on him... He plays the run very well and would be best off moved to the other side.
That said, if he doesn't give the hometown discount I wouldn't over pay for him. But then again what else are you left with?
W/O JPP there is no one else on this roster....

JPP was playing one of the best tackles in football last night and did a good job for much of the game. He was gassed in the fourth, the product of having nobody else to take the pressure off of him, or at least of being unwilling to play anyone capable of taking the pressure off of him lest we be even worse against the run. He isn't worth Top 10 DE money, but after OBJ he was the least of our problems last night.
There is no DE in the draft that high who is an every down starter from Day 1. The 2 top rated DE are 245lb players.
I am a huge Husker fan, but Gregory is part of a defensive team that can't stop the run against any marginal team
Scherf is not a LT in the NFL, Collins is not worth the top 10, Is Ogbuechi a LT in the NFL, is Peat. If either of those guys were the sure thing LT they would be rated higher
Just shows no ingenuity on the part of the staff. I understand why they didn't resign Tuck, but the 1 year at 3 mil would've been better than this crap.

agree. been saying it for 2 years
I don't want to break the bank on him either but with Kiwi and Beason likely to be cap casualties among others, and an increase in the salary cap I'm willing to negotiate. Then with the new DC (and there better be a new one next year), move him to LDE, start either Ayers or Moore on the other side, and now we're talking.
I am not saying we need to sign JPP but we have not retained any draft picks lately. Its part of the problem and a big part.
What he wants is immaterial. What matters is what some other team would be willing to pay him. The only thing we can say right now is that he's not playing at a high enough level to merit using a Franchise tag.
There is a dollar-figure at which retaining him makes sense. We'll see if another team is willing to offer him more.
I'd much rather see Reese go then JPP.
