Trading down in the 1st round

I think the higher we move up the draft order the benefits of looking for suitors for a potential top five pick increase.
If the Giants were to pick at number four, or even three, the possibility of trading down into the mid first round and gaining an extra first is intriguing.
I’m looking at someone like the Browns. I see them as being quite aggressive with their trade philosophy. They currently pick at number fourteen (from the Bills), and number 15. The trade value for those picks is slightly more than a four but less than a three. We have a seventh coming from Denver as compensation for the Brandon McManus trade that could be used a makeweight.
The Browns number one need is WR. Would they be willing to trade up if Amari Cooper was still available at three or four?
Obviously much will change between now and April, but the Giants could potentially land Shane Ray, Brandon Scherff, Vic Beasley, Andrus Peat, or La’el Collins to name a few (based off current mock draft projections for picks ten to twenty).
Big question is which is more valuable to the Giants at the moment? One top five player adding to the roster or two mid first round players?
You won't get 2 mid-round #1s unless you are in the Top 3

Then someone gets a shot at Mariota or Winston. Below that it depends who they have most highly rated.
First off we wont have a top 3-4 pick

there are at least 6 teams that will finish worse that us. Oak, Jax, Jets, Atl, TB, Wash. We will beat Jax and Tenn and prob Wash these next 3 weeks.

2nd There are no players worth trading that far up for. I don't see A Luck, Clowney, Watkins in this draft.

3rd look at the player we got at 12...BEST PICK in a long time!!

I say we sty in the top 10 and get a beast at either OL, DE, Wr
Might Not Matter

Doesn't look like a very strong draft anyway. Love to be surprised, but that's how it looks now.
I'd

trade down, but then I favor doing so almost every year. Football is a violent game, and we have a lot of holes thanks to the terrible drafting by Reese and Ross. If you're going to keep them, then at least give them more chances to find players.

Trading down of course requires a trade partner, which might be difficult since this isn't apparently considered a real deep draft. Teams might therefore be even more reluctant to trade up. But somebody will want to move up into the top ten. Do it and then do it again. Moving back several times seems like the best course of action, but I doubt we trade back at all.
