That was embarrassing.....

To hear the roar of the crowd, when the final Giant play was reversed.....on our turf.....Did you hear that Mr. Mara? Mr. Tish was distracted, so I don't think he did.......those were not Giant fans in your stadium last night....yes it was full of Cowboy fans.....be very glad, that the Jaguar, Titan, and Ram games, are all away games.....I don't think you could fill up the stadium with their fans.....that roar should have made the hairs on your back of your neck, wake you up to what is happening to this team....
Absolutely sickening. It's the kind of thing that gets people fired.

Reese is lucky the game was competitive.

of the mute button. I didn't subject myself to that torture. No sound the entire game.

Trouble is, the Mara and Tisch families get paid, no matter what. They should be embarrassed but at the end of the Antrel Rolle day, the money's in the bank.
it was kind of amazing - I don't think I've ever heard a "home" crowd

get how you can blame people for selling their tickets.

Put out a good product and they won't sell. It's that simple.

I'm sure they aren't knowingly selling to cowboy fans, there isn't button to see what kind of fan you are on Stub Hub.
And

has never had a large amount of Cowboys and Eagles fans; it's always a high amount, even when we were winning. In Eli's first year we played the Steelers at home and it was 35-40% Steelers fans.

Add in the cost of PSLs, the availability of tickets through Stubhub, a bland stadium experience and a crappy team, and what do you expect?

This doesn't just apply to the Giants, it applies to all teams in all sports.
PSLs
NoPeanutz : 11/24/2014 8:54 am : link
-pricing out any younger season ticket holders, and many of the older ones,
-combined with the primetime kickoff time,
-late season, cold-weather date
-when the Giants' season is already over
-playing the #1 fairweather fan base in America

It is not at all surprising that the attendance was mostly Dallas fans.

Even if the Giants were still competing and the gametime was earlier, the new PSL model favors away fans (who tend to go to only one game a year) and game-by-game ticket purchases, as season ticket holders that in the past used to go to every game try to recoup some of the enormous cost.

The team did it to themselves. This is the new reality.

true..but last night you could've renamed MetLife to AT&T Stadium. Just needed Merica's Team Cheerleaders to complete

saw a sellout crowd which is the only thing he cares about. Don't be mistaken by the whole mystique, the guy showed that his only concern is money the second they laid the foundation for MetLife Stadium. Unfortunately, being given a billion dollar football team just for coming out of the womb isn't good enough for some people.

Granted, Cowboys and Eagles fans have always had a presence in our stadiums but the introduction of PSLs only amplified it. But hey, at least we now have suites to impress potential business clients in!

On one hand, you are a fan who can afford to buy season tickets.....you are lucky to be able to.....if you are going to buy those PSL's, you should be putting your butts in them, or sell the PSL's...there are fans waiting to scoff them up....

On the other hand, as stated, who wants to go to a game and not be entertained? Might as well make some money on the deal right? Fair weather fan, but maybe when you bought those PSL's this wasn't the product that was on the field, and it wasn't.....so anyone can see both sides of this....
Like I said,

and while there are usually a ton of Cowboy fans when Dallas is in town, this was the first time I can recall a "let's go Cowboys" chant. It was loud too. Embarrassing.

I've been on the fence about bringing TC back, but the team played hard last night and, for the most part, the gameplan was good. McAdoo seems to be growing into his role. I'd be fine with bringing TC back, but what does that mean for Reese?

Both lines suck. The OL is a travesty. Dallas rushed 4 guys all game, and consistently got 2 or 3 guys in Eli's face. I don't see how Reese should survive, but Mara's comments the other day made it sound like he would be much more likely to move on from TC than Reese.
It was the same the week before....

There were multiple lets go 9er's chants and a sea of red jerseys. Embarrassing to be there.

Apparently there are no GIANTS fans waiting to scoff them up. Dude, there are PSL's for sale RIGHT NOW and they are not being purchased. So, last night thousands of tickets were for sale on the ticket exchange. Apparently the Giants fans (without season tickets) did not reach into their pockets to buy a ticket to a game against the Cowboys. A division opponent. A Prime time game on a day that was actually warm for November. The COWBOY fans are the ones who wanted the tickets.

So, don't tell me that there are Giants fans waiting to scoff them up. I agree with your follow up points.

Now, I will tell you this. I sold my tickets to last night's game. I knew for one week that my son could not go with me. So, I asked every Giants fan that I knew all week long. NOBODY wanted to go...NOBODY. My seats are also a once in a lifetime experience and they all know it. Still, no takers to go to last night's game. So, I sold them Saturday night so that I would not go by myself and eat TWO tickets.

My uncle has the two seats next to me. He is getting older and his knee is not allowing him to enjoy the games anymore. I think he is ready to sell his PSL's. So, if any of those Giants fans who are so patiently waiting for a PSL opportunity would like to SCOFF up these prime seats, then shoot me an e-mail. He may be ready right after this season.

Finally, I have been going to the games since 1970. I can tell you this is not the first time it was loaded with fans of the opposing team. It always happens when our team sucks. As a point of difference, there was a game a few years ago against Carolina. It was the last game of the season and it was fucking COLD. A night game too. Not a seat available and not a single Carolina fan to be seen. huge night for us. So, this really is mostly about how well the team is playing.

Remember earlier in the season when Dallas home games were like away games when the 49ers and Texans took over their stadium? The cowboys said they had to go to a silent count in their own stadium.
Very few
bronxct1 : 11/24/2014 9:31 am : link
there are very few places that have home field advantage anymore in the NFL. With the experience for the most part being much better at home there's no reason to be at the stadium anymore. For most cities it's only a bit more expensive to travel to another stadium to see your team play.

Combine that with a bad team and that's what you get.

Agreed. I was at the game yesterday and it was annoying to see the crowd packed with Dallas fans. Most of them younger fans, in their 20s, which to me is amusing since none of them are old enough to remember Dallas winning a Super Bowl yet they are all decked out in their championship gear.

But since the prices went up and PSLs, league wide, home team fans will sell their tickets to opposing fans in order to recoup money. The opposing fans will pay more money for the tickets generally speaking, so it is becoming more prevalent. As said before, there are always tons of Dallas fans at Giants games. It is what it is. For me the strangest thing was back against the Houston Texans, how many Texans fans I saw there. Years back, for a non-rival team, you used to see a handful at best of their fans at a game. But with the PSLs, there is a combination of more Giants fans willing to sell to get money back, and also, when they blew through the waiting list, that was open season for ticket resellers to buy up blocks of seats for the sole purpose of selling them to the highest bidder. The people who sit in front of me are never the same week to week, and they always have a stubhub printout. Welcome to the economics of the new NFL.

loved to complain about the 'old' fans and how the new stadium would be good to get young blood in the stadium. Well, this is what you are left with. Say what you want about the 'old' Giant fans but they showed up week after week, season after season, regardless of the teams record or weather. As stated above, each week the people around me have printed tickets from stubhub or the ticket exchange and have difficulty even finding their seats. The old loyal fans are a thing of the past.
Something else too...
EricJ (formerly Tyleraimee) : 11/24/2014 9:59 am : link
The Giants (all teams actually) having a partnership with the ticket exchange (Ticketmaster) is HUGE when it comes to being able to sell tickets. A few differences vs Stub Hub..

1. Ticketmaster takes a lower percentage
2. You can easily list your tickets directly from your account.
3. You dont have to mail your tickets like you used to with Stub Hub. Now you can upload PDFs to stub hub which is better than mailing but still you need to have a level of computer literacy to manage it.
4. The Giants have always said that if you sell your seats and some asshole does something stupid, then they will take YOUR seats away forever. This made you think twice as to who you would sell to. HOWEVER, you are protected if you sell through the ticket exchange. It is sanctioned by the Giants and the NFL so someone can be murdered in your seats and you cannot lose the tickets forever.
5. You can easily sell the parking passes too via ticket exchange.
6. You can sell the tix through the exchange up until 3 hours before the game. Stub Hub I think up until Wed before the game.

So... I think ACCESS to the tickets by other fans has increased significantly. IN the past, people may have tried to sell their seats and if they didn't, it would often lead to just empty seats that day.

Finally, do not think for a minute that Mara is "embarrassed" at all by the # of Dallas fans who were there. Just think about this for a minute. Not too long ago, he cashed in by selling 50% of the team to Tisch. Then, he cashes in by having the fans buy him a new stadium which is earning him more money too. All he needs to do is continue to pretend to care so that the fans do not just dump the PSLs for a loss. You will hear some very stern messages coming from John over the next few months. Most likely after the last game of the year. He will say enough to re-charge the fans and give them something to look forward to.

Yeah, I remember going to the games when we sucked every year. It was like the last two years but for about 10 years in a row. Traveling up to the Yale Bowl to watch some of the same garbage football.

Mara didn't sell 50% and cash in. The other half of the Mara family (Tim Mara) that didn't speak with Wellington sold his 50% years ago. That didn't go to John Mara. And if fans dump their PSLs, the Mara's don't benefit. It just means so other fan bought the PSL from the original owner.

Season-ticket holders always, even in the old building, tend to dump their tickets to visiting fans willing to pay well above face. When it's Dallas, it's worse. The 5-game losing streak and the game's proximity to Thanksgiving also didn't help. Everyone calm down.
I am guessing PSL's have something to do with it to some degree
steve in ky : 11/24/2014 10:30 am : link
Owning tickets has become very expensive and turning into more of a business deal from what used to be just a fan having to spend for the cost of the game day tickets. It is only natural that some fans will look to recoup some of their expense by selling off a few of the games with higher demand.
