Robert Ayers and Damontre Moore LEAD THE TEAM in...

Giantsguy12345 : 11/24/2014 10:27 am
Pressures Per Snap according to PFF, and it's not even close.

They combined for ONE TOTAL snap on the final series.

How is it NOT Fewell's fault in this example?

PLUS - both were well-rested for that final series after not playing many snaps the whole game.

ALSO - for the beginning of that drive, Fewell trotted out a left side of the Dline that included Marcus Kuhn and Mathias Kiwanuka. I was so angry that I just simply focused on them on the replay. Neither got ANY pressure at all within the first five seconds.
no surprises there

they also lead in "DE's who should be starting but arent"
Good coaches put their players
MikeN in Ottawa : 11/24/2014 10:31 am : link
in a position to succeed. Plus, they know who to use and when.

Fewell hasn't a clue although I am a firm believer that the defensive roster has tuned him out which is why I say he should be fired now and let Giunta be the interim DC. Then you evaluate the players and see who wants to be here.

It is pretty incredible really

less than 2 minutes to go 80 yards

It was laughable and someone really needs to be accountable for this. Lack of talent is one thing, but when Moore & Ayers Jr. were clearly the best options to rush the passer, and their asses were planted on the bench....
But

they had to protect against a possible draw to Demarco Murray
Ayers
cokeduplt : 11/24/2014 10:37 am : link
Has been the best D lineman this year, yet he plays sparingly I don't get it either.
meanwhile
NewBlue : 11/24/2014 10:39 am : link
we get a minute to try and get into FG range and we can't muster a first down.

You know it's like when you see players hold up 4 fingers to indicate the 4th quarter has started and that is when everyone needs to raise the level of their game. With the Giants it's when the going gets tough we take a hike
Kiwi is from BC...

He is promised a certain amount of playing time by TC... it's in his contact
thats shocking to me
djm : 11/24/2014 10:42 am : link
this team has pissed me off the last few years but the staff, up until now, wasn't really angering me certain personnel playing or not playing....but what the fuck...

How on Earth didn't they treat that last drive KNOWING they had to put pressure on Romo? HOW? How do you not go down swinging there? Shit, I would have brought the house just for the simple reason that if Dallas scores quickly we get the ball back with 2 plus left....

FUCKING COCK FUCKERS
It's Coughlin's fault
Rflairr : 11/24/2014 10:50 am : link
He's the HC. If he doesn't have any say on the players that play. Then he should retire
I've been saying it all year

Whether it's stats, advanced stats or the naked eye, everyone can see Kiwi is being outplayed by both Ayers and Moore. If anything should cost Fewell his job it's that. Moore has more sacks and only 7 less tackles despite playing less than a third of the snaps as Kiwi. Ayers leads the team in sacks despite playing about half the snaps as JPP (who again should be on the other side). It's maddening.
Like to know how many snaps Ayers took last night.
Reese's Pieces : 11/24/2014 10:52 am : link
He was a complete non-factor, with one tackle.
its obvious
hitdog42 : 11/24/2014 11:00 am : link
moore does poorly in 2 hand touch NFL practices during the week.
Watch the Washington-Dallas game?
Doomster : 11/24/2014 11:03 am : link
You take out Herz and McClain, insert Ayers and Moore, you blitz them and stunt your line at the same time....Romo has 3 seconds max...
The coaches
SwirlingEddie : 11/24/2014 11:03 am : link
trust Kiwinuka. He is reliably ineffective.

Romo
I won't argue
PaulBlakeTSU : 11/24/2014 11:20 am : link
that Coughlin/Fewell are using Moore and Ayers as efficiently or as much as they should. However, it is worth pointing out that the statistics relied upon in the OP are skewed because of how those players are used.

Moore and Ayers, as rotational guys, are used in passing situations and they are used to blitz and in blitz packages, so of course they are going to have a higher percentage of pressures per snap than the other Giants who play all, or most of the game, since you can't pass rush on a run.
On one hand, there is the school of thought
Matt M. : 11/24/2014 11:20 am : link
that Moore and Ayers (more so with Ayers) are as effective as they have been because their snaps have been limited. But, even if you believe that (I am not sold), there is no explanation for both of them not being on the field for most of that final drive. That was strictly a passing situation from start to finish. They both need to be in virtually every snap, especially after the DL got embarrassingly manhandled the first couple of snaps.

Sad truth is the only reason Ayers gets that many is because he lines up inside allowing Kiwi to stay in.

This coaching staff is failing in developing Damontre Moore. They are playing JPP out of position and giving playing time away based on tenure.

This is nothing new with Coughlin and will always continue as long as he is here.
Team needed a spark on D

Team needed a spark on Defense and you leave that to Kiwanuika ? Seriously, the dood is done.

and JPP ? all he does is talk anymore, he stinks

Just give it a few more years and I'm sure we'll all see what they see. Hey, who are the professionals, anyway?
That's funny. Giants give out so few contract extensions or new
Reese's Pieces : 11/24/2014 12:10 pm : link
contracts to vets, but the one guy they give a rich extension to in 2012 is Kiwanuka. They could have kept and paid Osi or Kiwi, and they chose Kiwi.

And then they let Tuck walk when he was willing to accept like three or five million dollars less than Oakland offered. Still an above average player who could elevate his game, coming off an 11 sack season, and a team leader and mentor to the younger linemen.

Then they replace Tuck with Kiwanuka, who only has 38 sacks and 12 forced fumbles in his whole nine years with the Giant.

Not a big surprise that the defense stinks with these kinds of personnel moves.
Nope.

1 pressure every 5.8 snaps

Pierre-Paul

1 pressure every 6.1 snaps

Hankins

1 pressure every 8.8 snaps

Would love to hear an explanation for this

But I'm sure we won't get it, especially with the Giant beat writers asking the questions. And what the hell was Kuhn doing on the field
Those PFF Stats

tell the whole story. Our best pass rushers are sitting on the bench at the end of the friggin game. WTF!

HOLY SHITBALLZ!!!!!!!!!!!
not to mention Bromley
Simms11 : 11/24/2014 1:45 pm : link
who was active?! Didn't they draft Bromley because of his ability to push the pocket back and get to the QB too? I'd love to hear Fewell's explanation.
