Maxx Williams, TE, Minnesota

He caught my eye in a fantastic game against Iowa earlier this month where he had three TDs as well as one of the best catches in college football this season. This is a complete TE. I doubt he comes out as a RS sophomore but nonetheless he is draft eligible.

He has great bloodlines. His father, Brian Williams played for the Gophers and was the Giants starting center in the 90's. His mother played volleyball there and his uncle also played football at Minnesota as a LB and FB. I think he already has a better NFL future than former Gopher Matt Spaeth who won the John Mackey in '06.

It's important to have a quality pass catching TE in today's NFL. He has good speed and soft hands. In two seasons and only 53 catches he has 12 career TD's. This year he leads the team in catches, yards and receiving TDs. What I really like about him though is his blocking ability, a trait I'm sure he learned from his father and Bob Kratch, who stays in contact. It's a big reason why Minnesota has one of the best rushing attacks in the Big Ten which is already the best running conference in college.

If you get a chance on Saturday, Minnesota has a big game against Wisconsin. The winner goes on to the Big 10 championship. Make sure you watch #88. Again he may not come out this year but he'll be on everyone's radar.
