What is a head coach's responsibility?

oldutican : 11/24/2014 11:45 am
I only ask half facetiously because I keep reading how the D is Fewell's fault. Do he and TC talk during the game? How about during the week? Does TC OK the game plan? Does he help make in-game adjustments? Does TC have any say in substitutions, such as who should be on the field on a final game deciding drive?

If he doesn't, just what is a head coach's responsibility?
like any head man, the HC is responsible for the

responsibility. And, again, I have said this before...this is one area where Tom has been noticeably lacking. He has hired four defensive coordinators and three of them have been awful.

You ever think he hires people who agree with him, like many head people do?

experts on TV make it sound like everyone has their specific job and that's it, they don't do anything else. The head coach approves the game plans the DC & OC submit, but has no other say. During the game, all he does is throw the red flag for replay and make decisions like going for it on 4th down. After deciding to go for it on 4th down, he does nothing else. The OC decides whether to run or pass, the players one the field & the play. I'm sure how the media reports it and what really happens are 2 different things. You think Belecheck relies on his coordinators that much up there?

Coughlin himself last week admitted he has override abilities on the playcalling. The defense is totally his responsibility too and his conservative stamp is all over the unimaginative read and wait until the other team makes a mistake but ultimately break nonsense.
One of his responsibilities

should be to make sure his QB and receivers are on the same page.
To make sure his team understand they must play
