JPP Next Season

I just looked on OvertheCap and he is listed under contract for 2015 for a little over 2 million...am I missing something? Anyone with knowledge would appreciate an explanation as to why he's "leaving"
He

has a player option that allows him to void his contract four days after the SB. That makes him a FA. It would be stunning if he didn't exercise that option. He's going to want too much $$$ relative to his performance, injury history, and possible commitment questions to warrant resigning IMO.
He has the option to sign,

or go to free agency....what do you think he will do? Go for his first big contract, or take that?
a lot of people are saying
fkap : 11/24/2014 12:48 pm : link
the final year is voidable. he looks like he's locked up, but can get out of it if he wants. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if that's true, but the voidable year is commonly repeated around her.
Thanks Acid

Didn't realize it was a player option.

Just strikes me as the type of guy that is going to coast after his next big contract. Doesn't seem to have the passion and desire to constantly improve and take his game to the next level.

that thinks the giants should absolutely re-sign him.
I could see him with the Dolphins
JonC : 11/24/2014 1:34 pm : link

Future Tampa Bay Bucc
I hope the Giants Franchise him

Just like they did with Prince i the off season...Try to negotiate a reasonable contract...if the Giants can't let him play under the Franchise tag next year and see if it's worth trying to sign him to a multi year contract...ai would also try to get him help and sign Suh
I don't get it?
Geeman : 11/24/2014 3:18 pm : link
Why would the Giants let him walk???
He's our best Dlineman on a unit that lacks good players as is. You negotiate and get him signed even if you have to overpay a little.
JPP of 2014 isn't worth the Franchise Tag, look up the cost
JonC : 11/24/2014 3:20 pm : link
There's plenty of reasons to consider letting him walk, all have been discussed at length in other threads.
every time JPP makes a play

i cringe. everyone cheers and I cringe. I cringe because I am scared we see little flashes here and there that make us hopeful and resign this guy for crazy money.
JPP needs a supporting cast for him
Rory : 11/24/2014 8:35 pm : link
to truly shine. That means another premium pass rusher on the other side and a premium blitzing linebacker from the outside.

Unless we aquire that type of talent then re-signing him is pointless.

That said, with Kiwi all but certain to be released, do you really go into 2015 with 3 new starters on the Dline?
JPP will bounce back next season

after being reunited with Tuck in Oakland.
we're out of contention
bc4life : 11/24/2014 8:40 pm : link
and might not retain JPP and Kiwi is probably gone. Might be a good idea to see what Wynn looks like and start giving Moore some snaps.
strahan didnt do much until year 4 or T
HomerJones45 : 11/24/2014 8:43 pm : link
You sign JPP. The last thing we need is another hole to fill. Some of you guys don't want a DE, you want Superman.
I don't see them letting him
kmed : 11/24/2014 8:45 pm : link
walk. Too much potential and too young.
