Coughlin indicates late encroachment penalty was supposed to be a pressure, seems to say it scared team a bit on blitzing again.

Was it really that hard a decision to make in the moment? How about after the first time Romo had nine seconds to throw?
Sometimes it can be difficult to find the line between players not executing and coaches not doing their jobs and putting them in the best position to do so. However, this right here is a pretty blatant coaching mistake.
and I'm a huge TC supporter, but one of my knocks on him and his teams through the years, when they struggle; they play scared. Scared to make mistakes instead of unleash the hounds mentality. They play too cautious and not aggressive enough sometimes....and it always seems to bite them in the ass.

Agreed - if one penalty results in you being scared to blitz, then you've seriously compromised your ability to win.
comment is yet another example of how this team is just so frustratingly conservative - i realize our secondary is decimated and there are risks to allowing dez/witten and other receivers to have 1 on 1 coverage against backups. but i'd rather go down aggressively than the death by 1,000 cuts (or in the case last night, the "10 steamboats" that romo had) version. for those calling for fewell's head but not coughlin's you need to have your own head checked.
It's comments like this that make me want the TC era to end! It's just unexplainable how players that should be out there for one reason or another are sitting on the sidelines, while the MK's of the world do nothing on it smh.

yup - as i said during my no huddle thread, they had the cowboys on the ropes but then backed off and played it conservatively on offense.

for real....if you're scared not to blitz because of a penalty.....you have no sack.
couple of years, we deserve this.
He should've been gone with all the ongoing miscommunications with this defense.
Now we get we didn't blitz because we were scared!!!
I just can't believe this. Romo is getting 6-8 seconds in the pocket and we are not bringin anybody.
Skins defense was just as bad and a key reason they won.
What did he really have to lose with a 3-7 record???
Coaching scared got him exactly what was deserved...a LOSS.

WTF is wrong with this staff?
Coughlin is consistently 1 year too late to make adjustments. He is going to ride Kiwi until his wheels fall off. Just like Diehl, snee, Webster, dodge, herzlich, gilbride, etc.

Coughlin is every bit as accountable for the defense's performance as PF.
"sound thinking" could there be in leaving the sack leader of the team on the bench in a critical end of game drive where the other team is pretty much going to pass constantly?

This is the fragile team he's looking for - and it starts and the top and goes all the way throughout the organization. We stopped blitzing because a guy went offsides? So much of what these guys do sometimes is starting to make sense.
and it was run-run-pass. Not even a play action. We didn't attack we just ran three plays three and out. Believe the second series was the same. Pathetic.
tom coughlin needs a motivational speaker with Ayers on the bench
"Perry: What in the name of God's green earth (substitute 'the
xxx' of your choice' after What) were you thinking by not using Moore and Ayers, especially the last possession!!?"

IIRC fewell during the bye week said it was an organizational decision. Re: not his.
Last night's game isn't one of them. The gameplan (running more plays and controlling time of possession against a team built on doing those things) was superb.
Coughlin doesn't deserve a job for life. But if you're looking to get rid of him ask yourself why. Is it because you don't think he can coach anymore, or because you want to punish him (i.e. hold him accountable) for these poor two years?
If it's the former reason, fair enough. If it's the latter, I don't think that's a good way to proceed forward.
If Coughlin is overruling Fewell and keeping Ayers off the field there, something is very wrong. I'd need to see some concrete proof of that, though.. I find it hard to believe.
what has to happen, two super bowls in our past have nothing to do with anything. i don't know why so many here don't see it. sure blame can be placed on JR too but what needs to happen is obvious and it is a year too late already.
TC says encroachment penalty was on a pressure. Suggests it scared the Giants away from future blitzes.
Coughlin said there were reasons why Robert Ayers was not on the field on last defensive series. "You love to be able to do it over.''

Eli's lone interception: "Those plays are magnified,'' Coughlin says of team that has no margin for error.
Coughlin is often asked about pairing Beckham with Victor Cruz. "I'm more of a realist. He's not out there.''

Tom Coughlin: "Sound thinking" went into Robert Ayers not being on field on last DAL drive. Added: "You love to be able to do it over."
Kiwanuka: "If you have a four-man rush you should be able to get there.''
If you're going to lose....go all out balls to the wall.
You're 3-7 for Christ's sake.

Ridiculous. Now we coach scared

The times they are a changin'.
Run

Then why haven't you been getting there for the last three years? Keep getting that check, Kiwi.
Coughlin's loyalty to kiwi.

Lengths at which people will shield coughlin on BBI is shameful. These people hold him above the team.

I was thinking the same thing. Not blitzing because of one encroachment penalty? Would you stop all motion because of one illegal motion penalty?

If we think coughlin isn't senile the only explanation is that he's lying.
Either he commanded fewell not to blitz or fewell chose not to and coughlin is covering him.
The telling question and answer will be to fewell: do you decide whether or not kiwi gets snaps?
xxx' of your choice' after What) were you thinking by not using Moore and Ayers, especially the last possession!!?"
Results oriented thinking is very normal in the NFL

Dig up the fewell interview during the bye week.
He was plainly asked about ayers snaps.

Open your mouth and adjust during games. Who wants to hear this shit after the game is over.
