Beckham Comparisons

BestFeature : 11/24/2014 8:17 pm
I know we've had these before, but since the season has gone in the shitter and he's our lone bright spot I figured I'd do one of these post-catch. I think now's a good of a chance as any, even if we might get a bit overboard over yesterday, but you know what? Why not? What does being too optimistic hurt?
I don't think you can compare him to any one person.

I bring this up a lot but they are different players. I see a little Steve Smith in him. They both play with that passion and chip on their shoulder. They are both not the biggest guys but they are nasty when they play. I love that.
He continues to look like torry holt to me
GMenLTS : 11/24/2014 8:23 pm : link
except now I'm starting to become convinced he could be better.
dude is a damn willing blocker too

I would compare him

He's lightening fast

His pivot on a dime on one of the comeback routes made me think I was seeing things. He's far more explosive than Holy and definitely quicker than Smith.

I genuinely have no one to compare him to.
UConn

Agreed. I've said this before, a more athletic Steve Smith. And you're right, both play with that edge.

the YAC ability of VC, the quick twitch feet of Mario Manningham, the blocking ability of Plaxico, the sideline aerobics of Toomer, the heart of Tyree, the fire of Shockey and the brains of Randle.

ok, ok...I threw that last one in there, obviously...
Unique.

Electric. Whether he'll achieve greatness remains to be seen, but already it appears that people who come after him will be compared to him. He moves so quickly, leaps so well, and has such great hands that he seems to have a one-of-a-kind set of skills. Ask Richard Sherman.

You joke about Duclair but I have thought how nice it was 2 electrifying young players on my 2 favorite teams. Of course Duclair is not where ODB is.

I can't remember the last 5'11" WR who made as many contested catches. Maybe Chris Chambers?

But seriously, as a prospect, he reminded me of Ike Hilliard (before he got hurt early in his rookie season), but Hilliard didn't have the mitts on him that OBJ does. I guess I would call him a cross between Hilliard and Nicks in that sense.
Sean Jackson with better hands....

it just went from 6 to midnight.

Odell Motherfucking Beckham is the one bright spot on this team. Deserves 1st page love.
That's definitely a lot more exciting
Kyle in NY : 11/25/2014 8:19 pm : link
