wife/girlfriend cheats every day on him, and the husband/boyfriend is like "it's ok I'll just ignore it and trust that you'll never do it again, however, I just want to keep you because you're so good to me'
I said it when we cut him and I stand by it now. You don't cut that level of talent when you have nothing behind it. Short sited, stubborn decision by our organization to make a point. Ended up hurting our team more than we hurt Will Hill. If the guy was dumb enough to get in trouble again, you'd be in the same exact situation we're in now anyway. Just a dumb move IMO.
it's more then that, it's knowingly breaking Team and NFL rules over and over again that got him suspended. Didn't he trash a house/not pay rent as well? Just a little insight to his character as a person
and sanctimony from people like Josh. If he were on the Cowboys, you'd rip them for being a complete piece of shit and them keeping him. But since he's on our team, it's okay to look the other way. Give me a break.
Hill as a player but they had no choice to cut him, he gave them no choice. He kept making the same mistake over and over and didn't seem to give a shit. The people saying oh it was just weed are just as dumb as he is.
Same people saying "so what he smoked weed etc etc"
no reason to cut him" Would be the same clamoring for him to be cut if still was here after, yet again, being suspended again. But he's doesn't let anyone down who rely on him. Point missing on many here.

agree with Mook... he had a chance to be a real star and smoked it away
HOF talent
Oh yeah, not at all, because he was SUSPENDED (again!) all 8 games.
What a player to build around!
It was a six game suspension, not eight. It was Aldon Smith who was suspended for nine games. The 49ers are one of the most respected NFL franchises. They and their fans didn't have any problem trying to get that hoodlum back as soon as possible. No one's criticized them for it.
This is the pros, not college. You're trying to win games, not mold a young man's character.
But he could wind up getting a much bigger contract before next season and with how much he's screwed up, the risk that he'd eat up a few million of cap and then get suspended for a year are too great. Maybe the team wins a couple of games more with him. I'd rather they move on rather than risking getting screwed harder by keeping him.

This. Hill gave the FO no choice, and those saying it's only marijuana are completely missing the big picture, which is that he failed to alter his behavior after repeated suspensions. If you look at the Will Hill situation and have anger towards anyone but Hill you just don't get it,
that I find absolutely mind boggling is that Will Hill wouldn't have taken up a roster spot during his suspension. It makes no sense to cut him right away.
You hold onto him for the 8 weeks (or whatever) and then reevaluate the situation.
When you continually lie to the guy whose name is on your paycheck after he has given you chance after chance after chance, it is not the organizations fault
Amazing that people still think it is just about smoking pot
And it wasn't even an expensive one. They overrated Stevie brown and thought they could have their cake (not invest in a pot head) and eat it too (still be ok at safety). Obviously the talent evaluation side of it was poor as everyone knew brown was fortunate to collect stats and sucked as a player.
Hill had potential and it would not have hurt to see it through another year.
Most are saying the Giants had no choice now because they also said the same prior and now look less bright with is needing safeties and hill is still a good player getting into the swing now.
Was a dumb decision then and its a dumb one now. Zero risk keeping him.
You'd think Will Hill was a cross of LT, Gandhi, & George Washington listening to his admirers.
The dude didn't get up. He kept smoking even when he knew he shouldn't. Sooner or later, you got to cut him loose. How many seasons can you start with him being suspended?
And he wasnt even suspended. You can't give players preferential treatment in a team game when you do you end up like the redskins who are constantly in shambles.

The saying that you made up based on nothing, notwithstanding, he kept getting in trouble and he was lying to the team. It is a shame that you think it is OK and apparently don't understand what the Giants try to instill in their team and players. And I can't believe these fucktarded threads just never stop about this cockfuck.

The 49ers are not one of the most respected organizations.
He was suspended 3 times. He will likely be suspended again.
Will Hill is going to be a distant memory . He will be suspended again , he will be cut again. TBH I'm glad he messed up again. Had he got through the season and played well , he would have gotten a large contract . Then he would have screwed the giants with his next suspension ! No team will ever give this guy a big contract.
The way some people continue to whine about Will Hill

Exactly, Mook.
The point isn't just how he continually ignored the rules
We get it, this is just a sports team you follow, so fuck the team holding their players to their side of an agreement regarding not doing something (again) that will be detrimental to the team. While you lament and whine about the Giants cutting a player you deemed potential pro bowler, the team has to think long term in their continued investment in a player, who may or may not be available next season or even next game.
I just hope that those people continuing to miss the point that Hill was released due to his inability to hold up his side of the agreement with the team aren't this cavalier about personal responsibilities in their real life.
how important it is to have a guy like Will Hill OUT of the locker room.
First of all, the other players on the team are NOT going to side with him because they do not appreciate the fact that HE is potentially wrecking everything they are all working so hard for. Players do not have time for other players who are selfish like he is. He was a good player on a bad defense but he was NOT Lawrence Taylor.
Second of all, having a guy miss a significant number of games due to a suspension is really bad when it comes to managing your roster. You are essentially releasing someone else that can potentially help you when you keep a player like Will Hill. You also need some kind of consistency in that position and you want someone who you can rely on for an entire season. Just look at what happens when we have a replacement safety back there. Things typically do not go well for us. You can blame talent but it often is also related to not having the time to develop an understanding of where you need to be. So, to have Will Hill in there for 8 games, then he gets busted again and you are going into the back half of the season with some new guy? No thank you
Try to remember that.

The Giants cut him because he smoked a joint.
Real good grasp of the situation...

Thread over.
Nailed it!!
We have no problem keeping any of these other knuckleheads on the payroll, including the talentless, the heartless, and the injury prone.
At least he could play.
That should be done regardless. Otherwise it's like countimg on a safety coming off of an ACL injury.
You hold onto him for the 8 weeks (or whatever) and then reevaluate the situation.

If you're the shining light of reason, then the benchmark has certainly been drastically lowered.
