Dallas and Philly will probably make the playoffs...it makes it double the chance our hated rivals make it to the big game. God, I have to become a Green Bay fan the rest of the way...or Seattle.
6-10 or worse, they are disqualified from post season play and the next best record makes it in.
And yes, the third Wild Card is absolutely coming next year. Especially if four 10-6 teams miss. I don't know it off the top of my head, but the number of teams with .500 or losing records who would have actually made it in since 1990 is small.
I'd love for a 6-10 division winner to host a playoff game,
Playoff seeding should be based on record regardless of division standing.
Having division championships worked okay when there were only 3 per conference. With four, we see better teams not make the playoffs because they didn't win their division while other teams get in.
so I don't find it a big deal. And far more often than not it makes for some very exciting matchups in weeks 16/17.
The only thing they should change is the rule that a division winner gets a home game regardless of record. Better record gets the home game even if it's a WC team.

No it isn't. It happens almost every year since the league went to 4 divisions.
Pats missed in '08 at 11-5, IIRC. Seattle made it in '11(? ) at 7-9 and upset the Saints (which is a perfect reason to NOT allow it to happen).
It happens a lot. This is just an extreme example this year.

and the 7-9 Seahawks went to play the #2 Bears and the #1 Falcons had to host the 10-6 Packers
I meant rare that a horrendous team gets in. It sucks but IMV it's more important to preserve the consequential divisional rivalries which occur all over the league every year in weeks 16 & 17.
Like I said, I like the partial solution of giving the home-game to the team with the better record, regardless of whether they're a division winner.
Then we get a 6-10 wildcard team?
Not sure the answer to the problem of one division being this poor every few years though.
If it makes it better we've lost to a lot of the teams in position to make the playoffs
They can also hold the 1st pick in the draft.
Well, there's a first round playoff loss looming in the Falcons' future.
...too bad the Giants are weak and worthless at the point of attack.
Just a shit ass team along both sides of the LOS that we've had the pleasure of rooting for over the past 2 1/2 years.

Giving the division winner a guaranteed home game is a mistake, IMO, and it could be embarrassing for the NFL this year.
The problem is there are too many divisions.
Fixed it for you.
Ha ha
Good one
We aren't in it, so I hope the whole thing is wrecked!!!!!

IMHO, it not only would be awesome to see a 6-10 team make it, but then have them run the table!

Do not like.

In a dream scenario Dallas will lose at New Orleans and Seattle/San Fran will win on the road in Philly in the wild card round
Yeah, this is the exact opposite of parity.
