Odell Made that Catch Because

gregindaytona : 11/25/2014 11:43 am
If you saw him practicing on the pregame show you would have seen him trying to catch every ball with one hand and arms extended. He is working extra hard to improve his skills and on that play it payed off. He has great potential and I hope he's a Giant for a long long time.

he's awesome. He doesn't even need to practice, he does it just to appease Mr Coughlin

Why would he have a bet with Randall Cobb?

And Odell is preparing and I'll bet there will be many more great opportunities.

my brain takes over and I start wondering.

(I just opened a book, closed my eyes, and pointed. Sounded funny.)
Terry Bradshaw on Joe & Evan thinks without the gloves
micky : 11/25/2014 12:14 pm : link
he wouldn't have made the catch. Saying because of tackiness of gloves.

You mean like with OBJ dropped a 1 handed catch against Seattle and ended up tipping it right to the defender for an easy pic that changed the direction of that game??
GREAT

OBJ is an exceptional talent

no doubt. He is also a very hard worker and his work out routine is quite different then most NFL players. Below is a cool video and article linked from NFL.COM, enjoy.

I've only seen him practice with his right hand though

If he was really great he would do it left-handed. Not impressed.

He is probably correct, but in his day players used Stickum which can arguably be considered an even greater aid so I don't know the point he was trying to get at.
Bradshaw's point was probably

The WSJ had a bit on the gloves Odell wears. It has great traction. Yeah. And they also helped him track the ball while running and gave him the ability to leap up to use that traction on the ball and helped him to keep botth feet inbounds.

Geez. Anything to diminish a great performance.
Absolutely
manh george : 11/25/2014 2:50 pm : link
The fact that he practices catching the ball with one hand means that he is is too fucking stupid to consider catching the ball with two hands when the opportunity presents itself.

The real question here is as to when some people are most likely to get over themselves.

Unfortunately, in many cases the answer is never.

Fortunately, OBJ has a skill set that is rare in the annals of NFL history. And there is at least a modest chance that he will learn, over time, which are the one-hand attempts and which are the two-hand attempts.

It's just unconscionable that he doesn't have that down pat after five games. If not now, never, I guess.
Take notes, people.
