was trying to accomplish on that one blitz. He literally tiptoed up to the line (while the play was going on), then paused, then engaged someone away from the ball.
It was like you picked someone out of the crowd for one NFL play, and they were doing their best to go unnoticed.
it's the coaches' fault that we have these mental relapses; it's on the players for not winning individual battles/matchups, but the mental errors that are repeat issues are on the coaches.
pretty detailed self-critique on the missed interception, knew where romo was going with it, couldn't see the ball, tried to clap catch it instead of v-technique catch it.
RE: Same story we've heard before, Rolle defending his coach
We have a lot of bad players getting snaps on this defense right now.
I am 100% in favor of a new DC because at this point you just have to make a change. But people are going to be disappointed when the results don't change if the talent doesn't improve.
Watching some of these guys trying to rush the passer is brutal.
He could've went without hinting it's the players, we already know that and he's one of them. Leave that kinda stuff for the coaches to say. It's not about one game either. We've changed the players, same problem. At some point you have to realize it's the scheme and how every year it has to be simplified because it's too complex for our players to comprehend and be on the same page. Is this sounding at all familiar?

I agree with the 2nd half of your post, BUT why not change some of the guys on the field? There's not much you can do with the garbage at LB, but why not give Moore or Ayers or Bromley snaps instead of Kiwi/Kuhn/Patterson?

I don't know. I don't know who is keeping those guys off the field or why. Kuhn is terrible and Kiwi somehow convinced this staff he could still play because he had a decent game or two in garbage time last year.
Ayers has been getting snaps for the most part. He just didn't on that last drive which really made no sense.
I don't know if Fewell's transcript came out yet for this week but I'd love to know if someone asked him why Ayers was on the sideline.
RE: RE: RE: It's obvious to anyone paying attention to some of these guys.
When did Moore and Ayers turn into Deacon Jones and Merlin Olsen? Kiwi had a sack and a forced fumble in the game. Ayers hadn't done shit. It's only possible to insist that Ayers and Moore would have been better with 20-20 hindsight.
Washington has better lb's than we do. Hell, almost every team has better lb's than we do. Ours suck- badly. For all the stuff about the overrated Cowboy defense, none of our lb's would start for them, none of them.
Maybe it's because he has a spot on WFAN every week. Maybe it's because he's well spoken and makes himself available to the media all the time.
Meanwhile he's not doing anything meaningful on the field.
I have a suggestion for Antrel Rolle: STFU and make some plays.

Les, as the saying goes..."you can't teach stupid"
We do have a stunningly large amount of low football IQ players on the same team. A good amount of them play together on defense (yikes!) and that is before their own individual awfulness.
Add the two together and it is like gasoline in front of a lit match.
The way it has gone down, I've concluded that there is nothing the coaching staff can do for some of these guys.
Case in point: Zack Bowman
Two plays before Beasley shakes Hosley out of his shoes, he gets the tackle on Murray but never uses his hands to make a clean wrap up tackle, instead, simply lunging in with his shoulder.
Now, he gets away with it here. But if he misses, that play probably goes for at least 10 yards as no one is there o his side and Murray is faster than the only potential defender (McClain).
So, we get to the 3rd and 5 play where Beasley makes the catch. Bowman has his shot again to have the play only be a modest gain.
Instead, rather than attempting to make a clean tackle, he does the same lunging shoulder tackle again and completely whiffs, allowing Beasley to run the length of the field for a TD.
Now surely the coaching staff is not teaching that method of tackling. Yet, here he is doing this nonsense rather than the fundamental play. An 8 yard completed pass turns into a 45 yard TD.
This was the same play that McClain, on a blitz is running....somewhere? I don't think this was how it was drawn up. It wasn't on the level of this attempted blitz last year that you see below where Paysinger runs straight for the LT (WTF?), but it was close.

I can't remember when exactly in the game it was, but I saw a linebacker blitzing that I feel like I could have outrun. He looked like he was jogging in slow motion on his way to the QB.

I am spending these next few weeks calling every blitz in my playbook. Might as well go for broke.
What do you do after all 4 of his blitzes have been called?
There are more than 4. He's just literally scared to call them and I guess judging by how poorly executed a lot of them are, I get why. Some of them are poorly designed but he called a few in the 1st half of the Colts game that I liked and thought actually were pretty well designed and generated some free rushers.
But anyway, my point was.. if I'm him, and I am taking all this heat for playing coverage and sitting back and being too conservative, I would just start sending the house and start throwing the sink at QB's the next few weeks.
If he thinks the design doesn't suck, the players will prove it one way or another. If the design does suck, I guess he's SOL.
But he's already lost this job so if he ever wants to be a DC again, these are his last chances to show what he's got. I sure as hell wouldn't be sitting back.

He really does have shit too work with though. Kiwi and JPP are not getting it done as pass rushers. And there are no pass rushing linebackers. We tried masking it with top notch CBs, but we've lost our #2, #3, and #5 meanwhile our #1 is hobbled and we are limited at safety outside of Rolle who has entered the twilight of his career.
This personnel sucks. The scheme seems to suck. Someone has gotta take the fall at the end of the season: players, coaches, or GM...don't care which.
Murray pulled a wicked jump cut, that caught Bowman off guard.
On the next play poor open field tackling.
The play Mccain: McCain I supposed to surprise the left tackle by crashing into him and thus freeing up the Giants DE. Its a pick play.Unfortunately the left tackle is linedup in mega wide splits.
I'm not on the "Fire Reese" team but wow, they have a lot of crappy players on that roster.
It was like you picked someone out of the crowd for one NFL play, and they were doing their best to go unnoticed.
Jon Beason, Walter Thurmond, Trumaine McBride, Prince Amukamara...
And Will Hill? lol
new name for our defensive philosophy.

Exactly. Is Rolle going to take Futile off the hook for that?

In a copy/cat league, Fewell didn't do anything which resembled the Skins blitz package. The defense is ranked almost last with and has a healthy DL.

They never answer these questions anyway.

We just have some really dumb players.
This is the NFL and if these guys do not know how to blitz by now then Reese and Fool are worse than we thought!!!
Everything about that Tampa 2 reeks of failure! Leaving Moore and Ayers on the bench was ridiculous !!!
The film breakdown says it all , Fool should have been fired right after the game!!

Nevermind, someone posted the GIF. Here is the slowest motherfucker I have ever seen blitzing a QB.
Slowest motherfucker ever - ( New Window )
