Carmelo Anthony had trouble even speaking, let alone walking or running, while dealing with his back injury on Monday night and he's not expected to play on Wednesday at Dallas, Friday at Oklahoma City and has no timetable for a return to action as of now.
The Knicks are concerned about his back spasms becoming a season-long problem, and are hoping his pain is not a sign of a disk problem. Anthony was already dealing with a knee injury and it now sounds like he could miss several more games with his back injury. Shane Larkin started the second half of Monday's game in Anthony's place, while Amare Stoudemire could get the call in his place tonight. Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Travis Wear should all see more opportunity with Melo in street clothes. The Knicks get the Heat in New York on Sunday and if Melo can play in that one, owners will have cause to celebrate.

you dont want something that is going to linger throughout his contract like LJ...Even though Melo is not an explosive player you still dont want to hear your superstar has a back issue...
But does have me dreaming about Okafor and then go out and sign Milsap and Dragic...
Calderon Dragic Melo Milsap Okafor...then with the cap jumping to over 80 million bring in another star player...

No benefit to him playing other than some extra tickets sold each game.
