And obviously have the same Star Wars fascination. Watched Episode 4 with my little dude already today waiting for the trailer to hit. I really hope they don't butcher this one like they did with the prequels.
It cannot be worse than episode 1. I was 6 when the original movie came out and am pumped for more Star Wars. I'll be there with my kids opening night.
potential spoilers based on leaks (that some of us avoided)?
I'm talking about what was in the trailer, and other than one thing which I could have spoiled but instead replaced with "something", I don't think I spoiled anything.
+1. I hated Episode 1-3 so bad I blocked them out of the franchise like I did with the 2nd and 3rd Matrix movies. Haydn Christensen was godawful. Lucas really shit the bed on them.
the guy makes compelling movies and is a very good director and creater of worlds/concepts. He's going to kill this project and I mean that in a good way.
God, that reeked of JJ Abrams. Look for massive plot holes and unbelievable coincidences.
His "Star Trek" movie was ruined for me when Kirk was marooned on a planet, ran into a cave and Spock just happened to be in that particular cave on that particular spot on that particularly huge fucking PLANET.
So glad that 80 seconds will keep me from wasting my money.
Not liking something ou know something about is 1 thing, but how you can deduce that trailer down to the movie looking terrible is beyond me. Makes no sense.

It "reeked" of JJ Abrams yet had like 0 lens flares. It also didn't divulge a single note about the plot, so how is it that you've already decided it will have massive plot holes and unbelievable coincidences?
Christ, way to really view the trailer from a thoughtful, objective perspective. Doesn't sound like you have any bias against JJ Abrams whatsoever.
Yet, you'll still get in line and pay 15 bucks to see it
But, according to reports, this SW episode is supposed to take place SW VI +30 years; that saber and hand that fell from Luke when Vader cut it off? That is found, and they go on a mission to return it to the owner, or some such.
THIN-ASS plot, yes. But it's JJ, what do you expect? War and Peace?

I also read spoilers on the internet, doesn't mean that they're true.
Again just anti-JJ Abrams bias. Not very thoughtful or objective.
And I can't understand anyone who accepted the original Star Wars movies with its accompanying plot holes that now rejects the possibility of similar films with plot holes. It's movie-going fun, entertainment, not art. Try to be less of a film critic and more like a young child, you know the one who just enjoyed the story and didn't worry too much about plot holes or the overuse of cinematic effects. It's much more fun that way
As much as we all enjoy the original trilogy, we'd be well served to stop acting like they were the Godfather. There was lots of hokey shit and plot holes in those movies that we all conveniently look past because we love the movies. Dismissing this new trilogy based on unsubstantiated internet rumors and an 88 second trailer is pretty stupid....
Is enormous right now. Abrams rebooted Star Trek, which i hated and I really enjoyed it. I trust that giant dork (Randy). Color me more excited than I should be at this age.
Some of the heat he took from Trek fans was the amount of SW elements he brought to his reboot of Trek, a reboot I personally enjoyed.
I think he might actually be the man for the job. He is like us (the ones that grew up with Star Wars). He might very well know what this movie should feel like.
And to clarify, I'm a fan of both Trek and Wars. I felt he did a really good job breathing some life back into Trek with the reboot, although I have some mixed feelings about Into Darkness.
But I get the feeling that Wars is up his alley, he might bring us something worthwhile.

Abrams is a really good action director. The first Star Trek demonstrated that in the scene where James Kirk was waking up from his medically induced slumber, and suddenly he jumps into action running to the bridge to warn of the impending disaster. It's just a guy running though hallways but, the camera angles, the things the actors do, the way the camera leads Kirk's run, gave me a lot of faith in Abrams. He's a massive Star Wars fan so he will do well by the brand. That shot of the Millennium Falcon should show the world that this is, at the very least, going to be an exciting, thrill ride of a movie.
RE: Any chance that storm trooper is the love child
Link - ( New Window )
Star Wars - ( New Window )

My 3 year old jumped at the beginning when that Stormtrooper without his helmet popped up!
I thought the Storm Troopers were all clones of Janga Fett ?
What a geek.
Scrooge.
If the art that has been leaked is correct, is the Sith Lord/Inquisitor on Endor looking for "something"? Is that Endor in the snow?
Just imagining Han and Chewie in that Falcon taking on those tie fighters...
Yeah man, I'm psyched.

To piggyback on what others have said, JJ Abrams used a ton of practical effects vs CGI for the sets.
How can anyone say its great or crap from 88 seconds? It looks like....star wars.
And UConn, I agree with what you say about JJ. It seems to be the in thing nowadays to put his filmmaking down.

No Lando is not in this movie but it is possible that he will be in either episode 8 or 9.
