Yesterday's results officially knocked the Giants out of playoff contention. Let's see what happens now. Can't say we're playing/not playing guys because we still have a mathematical shot at the playoffs. Now the only excuse is that "we're trying to win every game". For pride and to get momentum for next season, because that formula worked so well last year. C'mon Tom, let's see what some of these guys can do on the field. And no, I don't want you to end Eli's consecutive game streak, but at least give Nassib some PT
hes pushing Eli...can we get a #1??
wait for it...
wait for it...
The players are playing because they want to be employed next year
But this year Reese & Co. did a complete overhaul of the roster, and it still showed itself to be clueless and weak.
You would think with the number of injuries we continue to have, the overall depth of the roster at some point would get stronger...
I meant that their meaningless "strong" finish did not result in any kink of momentum going into this season.
Winning and losing a high draft pick is the least of my concerns.
Winning and then retaining the current regime is a huge problem for me. We can get the #1 pick in the draft, but if we go into next season with Reese and the same coaching staff then you can expect more of the same. ONE player is not going to make the difference. We need a complete philosophy and environment change.
Id say its 30% players and 70% coaching. Dallas should have had the worst def in the league. DC Marinelli is why they are playing with passion on def.
I don't want this seasons team in the playoffs even if they got in; they would be embarrassed even worse in a p-o game at some level, because they do NOT have the talent level.
It'd also be nice if we didnt lead the world in IR injuries, so fans could see what the team COULD do if generally healthy.
But at this point:
GIGO: Garbage in, garbage out.
They'll never be able to pay for the Christmas party if they do that, lol
Spock, I understand where you are coming from. However, I am convinced. For me, it really boils down to three specific things...
1. The O-line has been IGNORED IMO. Patched with spare parts. Yes we drafted Pugh and Richburg over the past two years but that was not enough and they were not proven NFL players. So, we were ROLLING THE DICE that our O-line issues would be fixed EACH YEAR by selecting one unproven rookie and then a couple of mediocre (at best) free agents. The O-line is so critical.. makes Eli and the rest of the offense better. Keeps our defense off of the field. Moves the chains a bit more even before we have to punt giving the opposition a longer field to drive, etc etc
2. Our players on the O and D lines seem to be physically weaker than whoever they line up against. All you need to do is watch the majority of the plays where they just line up against the guy in front of them. We get pushed backwards far too often. This is not new. For years we could not gain a yard when we truly needed it. Having to pass on 3rd and inches. Absolutely ridiculous. We seem to bring in players who fit a description rather than bring in guys who know how to play football. I have no use for a player who needs a coach to tell him what to do in every situation. You have been playing football your entire life and now you are in the NFL, if you cannot recognize WTF is going on pre or post snap... then you never will.
3. Coaching - IMO, we are not developing these players. These guys cannot tackle, the WRs other than Odell do not know how to run crisp routes. I really wonder whether we are teaching them anything during the week, OR are we just telling them what NOT to do and making them afraid to make mistakes. There is a stubbornness on the part of Tom to play a certain way regardless as to whether than style matches the talent or ability of his players. There is a stubbornness even during the game to forge ahead with the original game plan even if it is not working. Even after the Dallas game when he was asked why not keep passing since it was working. He referenced again wanting to have balance.
They just tacked on 12 months. It now reads T Minus 14 months 3 days 7 hours...
