What free agent would you like to see the giants get

Dinger : 12/10/2014 11:55 am
in 2015. I'm sure there will be a lot of Suh fans, but I'm trying to think slightly outside the box. I don't think there are a lot of decent LB's in the upcoming draft so how about Houston or McPhee or Worilds? I think Iupati woudl be a great addition to the line (maybe able to move Richburg back to center). What about TE's? Any in the draft seems like only a couple of decent FA's.
Depends

Iupati to shore up the OL. Other interesting names are Jordan Cameron (bit of a concussion history, but that might keep the price down) and Cliff Avril.
Heres a list

will be too expensive.

I'd like to see maybe Bryan Bulaga to be RT.

Make Schwartz RG, Richburg C, Pugh LG (is this realistic?) and Beatty LT

OL problem solved and you still have your 1st and 2nd round picks. Maybe get a Guard/tackle in the 3rd.

Whoever the best G is

lol....FA RT ....lol
Dinger : 12/10/2014 12:44 pm : link
I was thinking instead of having to outbid the ENTIRE NFL for Suh and since we have a couple of decent interior linemen, why not go for a LB'er. I hope Kennard can continue his progress and we hold onto McLain or Beason, but pick up an established linebacker who doesn't have a serious injury history, if possible. I think its the primary area where we need experience and talent on the D. We have a couple of decent DE's under contract, resign JPP and rolle at a reasonable price or let them walk and either draft or sign a S.
Not a free agent

Suh, Franklin, McCourty, Cobb, JPP.

If I had to pick one I'd say Cobb.
Iupati or Orlando Franklin for the OL
dpinzow : 12/10/2014 12:56 pm : link
and see whether it is possible to get Suh

Then in the draft, see if Cooper is there; if not trade down for a second #1 and stock the lines with both picks
Devin McCourty

And let Rolle walk.

Iupati also.

shows how is available in 2015 by clicking on the desired position and checking the free agency column which shows when their contract expires. Some examples below...

For Guards, there are guys like the Jets Willie Colon, Patriots Dan Connolly, Seahawks James Carpenter, and Lions Rob Sims who will be available.

For Tackles, there are guys like the Titans Michael Roos and the Bills Erik Pears available.

DL has the Seahawks Cliff Avril, Dolphins Jared Odrick. Colts Cory Redding, and the Jaguars Tyson Alualu.

Some choices
I wanna be Torbor, sucka : 12/10/2014 2:34 pm : link
O-line: I think the Giants are going to leave Beatty and Pugh on the edges, so the gap is LG (assuming they move Richburg to C). I'd go for either Franklin (assuming he will play guard and doesn't want to stay at RT) or James Carpenter. Iupati is a good player, but I think the style the Niners play will mean his body falls apart early and quickly.

I'd also like to go after Michael Roos as tackle depth. Coming off a knee injury he could be affordable. Maybe they could slide him inside.

If they do move Pugh inside, Ryan Harris is a guy I'd look at.

I'd give a few bucks to Roy Helu Jr as a #3 back. I'd also look at a one-year deal for WR Nate Washington. He reminds me a bit of Rueben Randle, except Washington has busted his ass his whole career. Maybe he could help get some potential out of RR.

On defense, I'd be curious if the Giants would go back after O'Brien Schofield. They might have burned that bridge, but they obviously saw some potential. I like KJ Wright from the Seahawks D too.

At ILB, if they do let Beason go, Jerrell Freeman could be a guy who steps in.

Roos
stretch234 : 12/10/2014 2:34 pm : link
He is the kind of vet OL Reese used to bring every other year (Andrews, Andrews, Locklear)

He is 32 and coming off an injury, but he can play both T positions
free agents
hankb1126 : 12/10/2014 2:39 pm : link
the giant history in free agents is to sign a player to fill a hole and not to pay mega bucks so forget about suh who i think is a great player but will want mega bucks in any deal as far as iupati goes why does 49er oline suck this year is iupati on the down side ?? and can we afford an oline with beatty and iupati ??

so giant fans lets be realistic in our needs

OG Mike Iupati
DT Ndamukong Suh
DE Greg Hardy
DE JPP
CB Walter Thurmond

K Stephen Gostkowski

suggestions. I also like Bulaga and Franklin. Our rookie center should have never been plugged in at guard but that is water under the bridge. I just wish he had a full year at center under his belt for next season. Geez Walton was bad. If they sign Suh the entire D-line is elevated and guys like Wynn and Moore (who I think could turn out better than people think) will have far less pressure on them since there will be more one on ones. We have two Lbs who can play in this league (Beason back on a one year with a paycut?) and the DB situation is a mess with only DRC a given. Rolle and Prince? Behre is a missile on the field but has no real experience in the passing game (again why hasn't he played more this season?) All that stuff about "practice performance" in bologna. Practice all you want but young players grow and develop on the field during the game. When during the 7 game losing streak did the team fear a mistake by Behre or any of the young players would cost them a critical set of downs? They may even have made better plays than guys like Kiwi. By the way I like the Helu idea. He has soft hands and would fit perfectly within McAdoo's short passing schemes.

Hank, I played against the Mariners when they were in the Garden State and later on in the Big North East Football League now now as MLF. I have faced the Mariners as a Rockland Bruins, Mt. Vernon Wolverine, Westchester Packers and later on Tri-State Bulldogs. What years did you play for them?

What's the point of this exercise? Some of these FA's are going to get tagged. Some are going to re-sign with their team. Some of those FAs are going to get injured.

1) A good pulling, pass blocking guard who could play tackle if needed

3) A good outside lb.

Draft a stud DE, safety and Guard

Giants aren't signing the most highly sought WR and DT in FA. Cobb and Suh? Forget about it. Suh is gonna get a fortune and Cobb will get close to a fortune. Wouldn't surprise me to see both players sign elsewhere but we aren't getting both. Cobb is a slight possibility for NYG but something tells me the Giants spend their FA money on their own guys and other positions besides WR. They will draft WRs like they always do. They have the big time impact player in BEckham and an expensive reclamation project in Cruz. I doubt they spend more big money on the position even though I agree there's a hole at WR with Randle...

I'd like to see a ready to play OL brought in, probably interior since we have Pugh and BEatty and tackles cost a fortune. A solid two way TE with blocking as hid forte works...probably won't cost too much and a LB wouldn't hurt but if BEason came back we'd have three that can start. Still want another one because Beason can't be depended on and he's limited anyway.

May have to replace Rolle...JPP isn't a lock to stay but the Giants will try...so will happen so it's tough to say now but interior OL, blocking TE and LB are needs that won't cost too much in FA.

Shorts is an intriguing option
djm : 12/11/2014 10:49 am : link
they could sign a lower tiered WR like that and let him push Randle. Shorts can play.

BEckham, Shorts, Cruz and Randle as your top 4? We'd need a slot guy in case Cruz isn't ready...but that's an intriguing lineup.
Realistically
HugeS : 12/13/2014 6:47 pm : link
In fantasy land we can keep JPP and sign suh to a mega contract but....

Figure out a way to keep JPP with an incentive laden contract that can work for both sides.

Get Rolle back without breaking the bank(One of the few true team leaders Giants have even if play is in decline)

Get a tough crafty vet like Roos to solidify the O-line (Bulaga's play has priced him out of our reach)

Get a tough nasty middle linebacker(Brandon Spikes) who can shore up our run D or a rangy athletic type(KJ Wright, Brandon Marshall) to beef up our lb core

Bring back Walter Thurmond on prove it deal

Get tough high motor secondary depth/Special Teams ace - Abdul Quddus
