Talbot likely in, but not official.

Very good win last night. Staal had a good game last night.

#lgr
Personally, I think they should play Hank
bigbluehoya : 12/14/2014 11:11 am : link
They've had a ton of time off recently, he desperately needs to get in a groove, they have a chance to rattle off a much-needed win streak of 4-5 games, and they're on the road against one of the worst teams in the league.

Go in there guns blazing, sweep the leg, no mercy.
….
BrettNYG10 : 12/14/2014 11:16 am : link
I'd start Talbot. Three games in four nights is rough, and Talbot needs steady playing time as well.

AV did a solid job managing the D last night, with no one getting more than 23 minutes. Jumping out to a big lead makes that easy to do. Hopefully we can do it again tonight.
Gotta jump on em early

I want revenge on these guys for that shitshow in the garden earlier this season
with Brett
ColHowPepper : 12/14/2014 11:44 am : link
HL is no longer in his mid-20s, indestructable

Cam has been solid working into his role the last two years

redbeard, ouch, yes, had forgotten about that, buried it
Big win last night
NYerInMA : 12/14/2014 11:55 am : link
Can't overlook this dumpster fire of a team, especially since we lost to them on home ice already, as noted above.

BrettNYG10 : 12/14/2014 12:16 pm : link
Talbot's continues success is pretty important for a playoff run, IMO. I'd start him again Friday or Saturday. I'd love for him to get 20-25 starts this year.

Last night was the perfect start for a back to back. Everyone got light minutes, wasn't a physical game, etc. We shouldn't have dead legs at all.
Make that Saturday or Sunday.*

Play talbot
bxgiants4 : 12/14/2014 1:08 pm : link
When Kreider gets his game back switch him and stempniak. Keep Miller on the top 9. Duclair odd man out when he returns
Can't believe we lost to this team already
Kyle in NY : 12/14/2014 1:14 pm : link
at home. They're awful. Need to string some wins together, good chance here.
Lunquist should get 55 starts
oipolloi : 12/14/2014 5:03 pm : link
With more towards THE END OF THE SEASON SO GETS INTO A GROOVE FOR THE PLAYOFFS

Henri played a lot of games last year, getting every start in the postseason. He needs the rest

Derek Brassard is out with the mumps tonight

I wonder who gave it to him....COULD IT BE THE GUY WHO IS PLAYING TONIGHT?

This mumps thing is getting ridiculous. He either caught it from Glass or Crosby.
Blows

Slide JT to C1 and Kreider up to 2nd line?
Good to see Mr. Mumps
Stufftherun : 12/14/2014 9:07 pm : link
one the ice for warmups, phew!

By the way, the adult version of Mumps doesn't sound very comfortable. I wonder if teams around the league have placed orders for extra large jocks and cups.
JT at C1 is terrible
Deej : 12/14/2014 9:33 pm : link
Sather dropped the ball on center depth this season. it was obvious from the get go.
I think Center has rounded out
bigbluehoya : 12/14/2014 9:38 pm : link
Quite nicely with the way Brass has played and Hayes has surprised.

Injuries and health are injuries and health.

Steps is really your C1 right now, but AV is going with the route of minimal disruption to existing combinations.
let the tank for McDavid continue

A nice start to the road trip and a deserved day off before a tough one in Calgary.
.....
BrettNYG10 : 12/15/2014 8:48 am : link
I missed the game - heard it sucked, but always nice to get two points. Calgary's been struggling and the Hurricanes fucking suck, so we should be able to win two of the next three.
I was afraid of waking up this morning to see they'd blown the lead
NYerInMA : 12/15/2014 8:49 am : link
But thankfully they held on.
good win
MetsAreBack : 12/15/2014 10:56 am : link
Oilers played a very conservative game, we were patient, and came out of it with two points. Would have liked a 6-0 laugher, but whatever, we gave up 16 shots the entire game, and weathered the storm after Brassard was a late scratch. I'll take it.

No reason why this can't be a 4-0 roadtrip. Flames are realing a bit. Let's get two more points tomorrow.

We finally got back to .500 last night.

We have a tough January, so we need to finish out the year strong.

You finally came up with something smart, Brett. Thank you for getting it. Yes, got back to .500 indeed. Hopefully that awful Red Wings loss woke this team up a bit. Have to like how Hank has played the last two games... hopefully he's finally starting to warm up a bit. Must have been all those therapy sessions with Dr. Brett.
....
BrettNYG10 : 12/15/2014 11:19 am : link
Interacting with me does everyone some good - unsurprising I saved Henrik's season.

And even the .500 record is bullshit when counting for the shootout wins (we only have one of those). We're tied for seventh in the East in ROW, but Washington (one game) and Boston (two) have both played more games than us. Ahead of us, the Islanders have two more and have played two more games, Montreal has two more and has played three more.

So, basically fuck everyone else.
Well, ROW is the first tie breaker so you need to take it seriously
MetsAreBack : 12/15/2014 11:27 am : link

but OT hockey is still hybrid hockey ... 4 on 4... so personally i look at regulation records as the best indicator of future success.

10-10 in regulation, 4-4 in overtimes

It's been a .500 hockey club so far... hopefully our best hockey is still in front of us... we've seen glimpses of the team that played in June (Montreal, Vancouver, first Pittsburgh game), but not enough consistency yet.

BrettNYG10 : 12/15/2014 11:46 am : link
My biggest concern is the third period choking. I don't recall it being an issue last season until the playoffs (I don't have the stats, though).

That should go away a bit with McDonagh and Staal playing better.

I guess they wanna speed up that perpetual rebuild. Wonder if they finally move some pieces as well.
MacTavish has like 9 lives out there
MetsAreBack : 12/15/2014 12:02 pm : link
its impressive to see someone fail repeatedly yet continue to gain employment. Maybe its because he makes passionate speeches about how everyone else sucks from time to time.
Supposedly they're going to move Hall
Greg from LI : 12/15/2014 12:03 pm : link
But not until the offseason
Would love to get in on Hall
Deej : 12/15/2014 12:14 pm : link
though we're deep as shit on the wing (including guys who shouldnt be playing center). Putting aside one year guys like Stemp, we have Nash, MSL, Zucc, Kreider, Hags, Hayes, Duclair, Miller, Fast, and Mumps Glass. That is 10, 9 of whom I like and dont see as long term 4th liners.

Add Buchnevich and a handful of AHL and below guys, and it seems clear that we should probably look at moving a W sooner rather than later to recoup picks or increase C/D prospect depth. C in particular.
.
arcarsenal : 12/15/2014 12:17 pm : link
We should try to move some of our younger wing depth for a C.. even if it's a prospect. We just don't have enough in the system and we have an over abundance of wingers.

Timmy Erixon was dumped to Chicago over the weekend for a Morin. Two skilled guys who havent done nearly enough in the NHL.
