The Giants have clinched 3rd place. This means they will play the 3rd place teams in the NFC North and South in 2015.
2015 Schedule:
AFC East: NE, NYJ, at BUF, at MIA
NFC South: CAR, at TB, ATL, at NO
NFC North 3rd place team: at MINN or at CHI
NFC West 3rd place team: STL or SF
The Giants will also pick behind the Redskins in the draft, not because of finishing 3rd, but because of the SOS tiebreak (see below)
=====================
DAL and PHI:
======================
PHI has clinched tiebreak over DAL.
So if PHI beats DAL, PHI wins division unless they lose 2 and DAL wins 2.
If DAL beats PHI, DAL wins division unless PHI does better in the last 2 than DAL does. (So if DAL wins their last 2, DAL wins division.)
The DAL opponents are IND and WAS.
The PHI opponents are WAS and NYG.
=========================
DRAFT ORDER:
The tiebreaker for non-playoff teams is strength of schedule (SOS). The usual tiebreaks within a division or conference (like head-to-head, division record) are only applied if the strength of schedule is the same. (Therefore it is possible to finish 3rd and still pick ahead of the 4th place team in your division).
The Giants are currently #8. If NO loses to CHI, they would move down to #9. If CHI loses to NO, the CHI-NYG SOS tiebreak is extremely close.
1 TB### 2-12
2 TEN### 2-12
3 JAC### 2-12
4 OAK### 2-12
5 WAS### 3-11
6 NYJ# 3-11 (NYG 100 NYJ 111) NE, at MIA
7 ATL 5-9 (ATL 80.5 NYG 86) at NO, CAR
8 NYG 5-9 at STL, PHI
9 NO 5-8 (NO 75.5 NYG 81) at CHI, ATL, at TB
10 CHI 5-8 (NYG 81 CHI 83.5) NO, DET, at MIN
(CAR 5-8-1 current division leader, division winner cannot pick earlier than #21 - playing CLE, at ATL)
11 MIN 6-8# (MIN 81.5 NYG 88) at MIA, CHI
12 STL 6-8@ (NYG 57 STL 65) NYG, at SEA
### - will pick ahead of the Giants (no matter what)
## - will pick ahead of Giants in case of a tie
# - very likely to pick ahead of Giants in case of a tie
@ - very likely to pick behind Giants in case of a tie
@@ - will pick behind Giants in case of a tie
@@@ - will pick behind Giants
Other teams that the Giants could tie:
HOU 7-7# (HOU 58.5 NYG 69)
MIA 7-7
CLE 7-7
SF 7-7
(I haven't calculated SOS tiebreak for MIA, CLE or SF).
- The numbers in parentheses are the total wins by non-common opponents (up to now), which eventually determines the difference in SOS. The team with a lower number picks earlier in the case of a tie.
-For example, the redskins and giants tiebreak was decided by the opponents the they didn't have in common. WAS played TB and MIN while the Giants played DET and ATL.
WAS: TB wins + MIN wins = 8
NYG: DET wins + ATL wins = 14
Since TB and MIN only have a total of 5 games left, this tiebreak is decided.
Only the Jets.
The Giants play the entire NFC South in 2015, so we play the 3rd place teams in the NFC North and West, right?
Only the Jets.
Yeah, but like us, a few of their fans are celebrating a meaningless win.

Whoops. Thank you. The listed teams are still correct.

The Jets really fucked themselves by winning today.

They need a franchise QB. Entirely different situation. They cost themselves a chance at Mariota.
Home, according to the website I consulted.
Makes sense to me as AFC (other than west coast) will simply alternate home and away with NYG, and NE played @ NYG in 2007 and NYG played @ NE in 2011.

This hand wringing after a win against a division fucking rival is astounding.
If it costs the Eagles a playoff spot, I hope they skullfuck the Eagles in two weeks - it will be well worth it to lose a few draft pick slots....
TB, TEN and NYJ all need QBs (and I'll bet Hundley is overdrafted because of this)
JAX has a decent group of young WRs (Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee, Allen Hurns) that just need to develop, so it is not their greatest need. They really need OL desperately
WSH doesn't need a receiver, they have DJax and Garcon; they need OL even more desperately than we do because their QBs are getting knocked around like Eli did last year
ATL doesn't need a receiver, they have Julio, Roddy and Harry Douglas
CHI doesn't need a receiver, they have Marshall and Jeffery
Maybe the Saints do but they've got Cooks and Graham so they've got much bigger needs, especially on defense
So the only team that really needs a receiver at the top of the draft is the Raiders because they need everything. That being said, they could go with Leonard Jackson who looks like a franchise DL
Right now, as hard as it is to believe, Carolina leads their division!
