I puked in my mouth when ODB when back there with seconds left to field a punt. Really TC????? What is there to gain there? Crazy having your franchise back there returning punts at this point.
I thought doomster

was going to instruct TC to tell Eli to hit his WRs in stride.
Oh what the hell are you worried about?
Ralph.C : 12/14/2014 9:09 pm : link

OHHH! You're worried about THIS!
yeah you should never use stars to return punts
Blue Blood : 12/14/2014 9:09 pm : link
Deion Sanders and Rod Woodson disagree however..
My gosh
Ralph.C : 12/14/2014 9:10 pm : link

While you're at it...

Call Mike Tomlin and tell him that even though he's been using Antonio Brown on PR's all year, he should stop now.. John Fox should also get Emmanuel Sanders away from PR's.

Ah, fuck it..
McCarthy uses Cobb on returns. Belichick uses Edelman.
Riggies : 12/14/2014 9:13 pm : link
McCoy will use Allen. Tomlin will use Brown. For years, Reid would use Jackson (as we all know...).

While I understand concern, at least for this lost season, using one of or your best WRs back there isn't taboo or some coaching sin.
I have seen more players injure their knees catching passes
ImaGiant86 : 12/14/2014 9:16 pm : link
Than a PR returning a kick.

Remember Hixon tearing his knee up catching a touchdown pass?

How did Cruz tear up his knee again?

Paranoia around here is at an unhealthy level for some.

You use your best PR

With 11 seconds left and tell him to call fair catch(and actually catch it)

You guys are a riot, trying to suggest that it is common for stars to return punts.

Especially in a lost season

Two words
BlueHurricane : 12/14/2014 9:52 pm : link
Deion Sanders
Sanders stopped returning punts
oipolloi : 12/14/2014 10:00 pm : link
And he would only go back to punt returner in big games, where a victory was crucial

Giants are playing meaningless games

So, your one example, in fact proves how idiotic it is to have OBJ return punts.

Of course, you would easily see that if it was anyone other than Coughlin doing it. For example, if Reese come out and said it was his decision, all the Coughlin lovers would do an about-face and denounce it as the worst move ever

well, considering he was trying to fair catch it, not a whole lot of chance for injury.

Man, there are some paranoid people on this board...
Giants fans more than any other fanbase
BlueHurricane : 12/14/2014 10:10 pm : link
Will find something to bitch about no matter what the circumstance. Why stop a guy who loves returning punts and is very dangerous back there stop doing it? Fear of injury? There is a chance of injury on every play.

Antonio Brown is the leading receiver in football and is the Steelers main punt returner. Are you suggesting he's not a star? He returned a punt 2 weeks ago with 3:00 left up 21, not a fair catch either.

The big difference is that the Steelers are playing for something. We have nothing to prove..

Yes, but that game was over and there was no need for him to have to return a punt up 3 scores with 3 minutes left. Yet they put him out there and he didn't fair catch it.

JoefromPa : 12/14/2014 11:52 pm : link
he should use him on punt returns if he is the best player available. Lawrence Taylor played special teams his rookie year.

However, he probably didn't need to be back there with 10 seconds left; no one did.
And I would ask him to do the opposite
Matt M. : 12/15/2014 12:06 am : link
Please use him for PR, as he is the only player on their roster right now who is seemingly capable of making plays.
During a lost season I agree

In the future with the season at hand, I'd disagree.
And let's say Beckham gets a serious injury on that play...
silverfox : 12/15/2014 7:22 am : link
...would Coughlin get a pass? I'm betting he would, but somebody else would get the door.
I read on here last night that TC
