even though we won't get in the playoffs. We could deal them a massive blow that Philly will have a tough time living down in the offseason with a win in Week 17. We could also go into the offseason on a high and start feeling good about ourselves as an organization, similar to the last game of 2004 when Eli and Tiki beat the Cowboys in the season finale and used that as the first step to being a championship contender

If Cowboys beat Colts next week (big if) the Giants-Eagles game is likely going to be meaningless

Eagles would win the East at 11-5 if they won out and Dallas lost at Washington because they'd be 5-1 in the division and Dallas would be 3-3
So all Philly needs to do to make Week 17 meaningful
at least before the actual game times are released is to beat Washington on Saturday. The only way that game is meaningless is if:
1. Washington beats Philly, Dallas beats Indy and Detroit beats Chicago (Dallas wins NFC East, DET wins at least a WC and Philly is out because they lost to both GB and AZ)
2. Dallas wins against Indy in Week 16 and at Washington in Week 17 in an early game if Philly is scheduled against us in a late game. In that scenario, DET also needs to beat CHI and GB needs to beat TB. Both of those are very likely, but you never know in the NFL

In #1 don't see what AZ has to do with it, as PHI and AZ couldn't tie in that case. Also don't see why the DET win is necessary. Haven't seen a way for PHI to get WC at 10-6.
In #2 PHI can still make it if SEA loses 2 - maybe there is some subtlety involving game times, but I don't think #2 is true either.
Any one know the tie breaker if Dallas and Philly are even?
The head to head tie breaker is now gone. If the Eagles win their last two games and the Cowboys win one, they'll finish the season with a tied record and a split in the head to head tie breaker. What tiebreakers are next?

Philadelphia has already won the tiebreaker. The next tiebreaker after head to head is division record. Dallas is 3-2, Philly is 3-1. Since Philly is a game back, they have some ground to make up.
DALLAS GOES 1-1, PHILLY 2-0
Philadelphia would win the division with a 5-1 division record, compared to Dallas's 3-3 or 4-2.
DALLAS GOES 0-2, PHILLY 1-1
Philadelphia wins the division with a 4-2 division record, compared to Dallas's 3-3.
PHILLY GOES 0-2
Tiebreaker does not go into effect. Dallas wins the division with a superior overall record.
will likely schedule both Dallas-Washington and Eagles-Giants for the same 4:25 ET start time to ensure "competitiveness" for the reasons being cited.
Detroit-Green Bay will probably be in the same time period as well. Arizona-San Fran is already going to be at that time anyway.
NFL will do everything to keep all teams in the playoff race kicking off at the same time.
Detroit-Green Bay is probably going to Sunday Night because the winner wins the NFC North and possibly gets a bye
NBC's history with that game has been for a "Win or Go Home" type.
Let's say Detroit-Green Bay is selected, there is a chance both teams can be in the playoffs before the game even kicks off due to the results of the other games that day, taking away most of the drama.
That is why I think an AFC game will be taken this year. Likely Cincinnati at Pittsburgh for AFC North title. There are some moving parts that need to get figured out this coming week.
We just played 3 terrible teams in a row and actually lost to one of them. The Giants have not shown they can beat a good team all year. The Rams are tough and the game with a good Philly team should mean something (not to mention the embarrasment of them kicking our ass on national tv a few weeks ago).
This is a chance for our O to show they can establish a running game against a stout front 7 and for our D to show they can come up big and stop a talented offense.
Not true.
Quote:
Dallas or Philly cant make the playoffs as a wild card.
Not true.
Dallas still could I think. Eagles I don't think they can.
Dal can win tiebreak vs GB.
Not true.

Well obviously not all of them - they'll surely have a game with playoff implications as the night game.
