"99.9 percent he’s back,” a source familiar with the club’s thinking told The Post Sunday night. The Giants, as is their preferred policy, prefer to make their decisions public when the season ends. “I have no comment,” co-owner John Mara said following Giants 24, Redskins 13. “No comment,” co-owner Steve Tisch said. Neither owner would divulge whether the decision on Coughlin’s future has already been made. A source had told The Post several weeks ago Coughlin’s return at that time was “50-50.” |
Or missing playoffs 5 of 6 years.
Now I know why we haven't made the playoffs 5 of 6 years
Moore is back to the bench.
Absolutely not! Think of the future. If the Giants maintain the policy of never talking about a coaches future until after the season, reporters can never read things into it and speculate that the coach is in trouble because the team won't talk about it. Is just policy.
Moore is back to the bench.
And Fewell and Quinn. Might as well bring everyone back since we had such a successful season. The teams they have beaten have a combined record of 20-50.
He was the genius who took Kennard out after he nearly intercepted RGIII right before the half and it would have been a pick six. Then they went right down the field and almost scored on that disputed non touchdown. Then he put Kennard back in the game when it became first and goal right before that controversial play.
I have no confidence in that guy. I don't know how he has managed to survive this long. It's hard to understand what he is coaching. They constantly lose contain. They always get sucked in on mix direction. When he dials up pressures guys are running free all over the place with no one near to cover. It happened over and over again yesterday.
If not for the defensive line playing the way they did in the second half they probably lose this game. Wynn is another guy who really plays well and did so in preseason. Why did it take so long for them to get this guy on the field? Fewell has to go.
I'd really like to see a new DC. Year after year the defense is confused on the field and blow way too many coverages. They don't know how to blitz. The cannot get a critical game deciding stop.
I think the big factor is magically cutting down on injuries and getting a bit more talent, and getting a new DC.
If Coughlin stays, Perry will be back.

Clearly the franchise is headed in the right direction. Stay the course man. No reason for change!
I never want to see the Giants lose, so that is one game where I'd love to see us come out on top 35-31.
He is such a better coach and his preperation during the week is awesome!
Sure the players are playing for themselves but certainly you can agree there are times players give up.
Well these last 2 games have proven that Tom "hasn't forgotten how to coach" so if we lose the next 2 games it must be due to a lack of talent and we should fire Reese.
nate, if the Giants see fit to move on from Coughlin I'm all for the decision. I also understand how frustrated a lot of folks are...these sucky seasons, well, they suck!
I'm just not a change for the sake of change person. Tell me some names. Tell me who is out there so I can study their work and get fired up about thepossibilities!
The truth is, there was very little chance he was going to be let go this year, regardless of how the season ended up from the get go.
The only time he'll be shown the door is when he's ready to retire.
Fewell will be let go. They will let McAdoo continue his education under Coughlin. No idea about Quinn.
Been saying this all season.
I could see this happening.
Good question.

the love affair is back on. What happens if we get beat down the next 2 games?
Good question.
The result will be the same. He's coming back, and was coming back prior to the last two wins.
You guys have had good coaching for so long, you don't know the difference anymore between good coaching and bad coaching.
This team could have tanked completely with a 7 game losing streak featuring several heartbreaking losses, cb's coming in off practice squads to play, having to depend on rookies like Williams and flakes like Moore for bodies. They have held together, there is no sniping or back-biting (see Chicago Bears, Washington Redskins), and they are out there competing, finding guys who can play, and laying the foundation where a good draft and a couple of free agents get them right back in it.

Great news for Kiwi, Herzlich and anyone associated with BC. Bad news for players like Moore and Wynn.
Every game is taken in consideration..not just what the opponents records are. The last two showed and helped their cause.
Agree 100% its players issue not coaching. Just keep the continuity with staff. Vital at this juncture
I know a lot of fans are frustrated and want Coughlin gone, and Coughlin is ultimately responsible for this season, but I never thought the Giants would make a change this year.
I think, imho, we may even see some heads explode around here in a few weeks, because I have a feeling we may even see Fewell come back(personally I hope not).
I think Quinn may have hurt his chances a bit today(Coughlin didn't appear happy late)but I wonder if we'll see much in the way of change.
I don't understand how having the team playing hard when there is nothing to play for trumps the team being awful when there was everything to play for. 3 straight years the team has played hard after throwing the season away. This is the standard management is satisfied with?

but the players seem to still be playing hard and there are a few bright spots.

Apparently. And the standard a lot of posters on here as well.
The true Teflon Don
That's nuts. Reese isn't the one coaching. There getting their ass kicked in the coaching department

Did they prove that? It looked to me like the Giants were more talented than the last 2 teams they played.
And one of those teams, a legit argument can be made that they are the worst team in the NFL.
It probably wouldn't be true if they lost the last two games
Doesn't matter, its a year to year job no matter what the contract says
Should be his decision whether or not TC goes. Either way he is directly accountable for results in the field.
Similarly, if retained, Coughlin must be given authority to run his own ship, choose his own coirdinators, Fewell and Quinn included.
Moore is back to the bench.
I hate to be the one to say it, but can we lay off of Herzlich for a bit... The guy has been as terrible as anyone to ever put on a blue uniform for most of his career, but why complain about him now when is is on the best stretch of games of his career. I for one think we probably don't win yesterday without the very good run support from Herzlich. Did you not notice him out there shedding blockers faster than a Golder Retriever on your favorite couch? He played like a real man in the run game, and this is just the latest example of him doing so lately. He is on a tear lately and I don't feel like now is the time to be singling him out for insults.

Herzlich's overall Giant career is not "terrible". He has been excellent on ST
