Serby NYP: 99.9% Chance Coughlin Returns

Riggies : 12/15/2014 12:05 am
Not really news at this point, but backing up what Francesser has claimed recently:

Quote:
"99.9 percent he’s back,” a source familiar with the club’s thinking told The Post Sunday night.

The Giants, as is their preferred policy, prefer to make their decisions public when the season ends.

“I have no comment,” co-owner John Mara said following Giants 24, Redskins 13.

“No comment,” co-owner Steve Tisch said.

Neither owner would divulge whether the decision on Coughlin’s future has already been made.

A source had told The Post several weeks ago Coughlin’s return at that time was “50-50.”

but the players seem to still be playing hard and there are a few bright spots.

I know a lot of fans are frustrated and want Coughlin gone, and Coughlin is ultimately responsible for this season, but I never thought the Giants would make a change this year.

I think, imho, we may even see some heads explode around here in a few weeks, because I have a feeling we may even see Fewell come back(personally I hope not).

I think Quinn may have hurt his chances a bit today(Coughlin didn't appear happy late)but I wonder if we'll see much in the way of change.

I don't understand how having the team playing hard when there is nothing to play for trumps the team being awful when there was everything to play for. 3 straight years the team has played hard after throwing the season away. This is the standard management is satisfied with?

Apparently. And the standard a lot of posters on here as well.
Coughlin's Last Horrah!!

Bill Parcells did it best when he made the personal changes and coached the team. Coughlin knows how to build a championship team. His influence after the 2006 and 2011 seasons brought NYC two titles. Let TC find and place the right people at the right position and let him have a greater stake in the team. NYC has 4 SB Titles and if they want a second it will take one person to take the reigns and put puzzle back together. Let's not forget it's Eli's, JPP's, Prince's and other players contract year.. LET THEM GO OUT SWINGING!!

There is nothing he can do to be fired.

they better get rid of Reese or we will be in the same spot next season

That's nuts. Reese isn't the one coaching. There getting their ass kicked in the coaching department

Well these last 2 games have proven that Tom "hasn't forgotten how to coach" so if we lose the next 2 games it must be due to a lack of talent and we should fire Reese.
Did they prove that? It looked to me like the Giants were more talented than the last 2 teams they played.

And one of those teams, a legit argument can be made that they are the worst team in the NFL.
the question now is how many years

They are working on the extension.
I kind of expected they were really looking for a reason to keep him.

This doesn't leak out of they lost these last two games.

It probably wouldn't be true if they lost the last two games

Doesn't matter, its a year to year job no matter what the contract says
What did Fewell do to earn this job in the first place?
bigblueheadache : 12/15/2014 1:11 pm : link
He was mediocre with the Bills and no better here. I don't want to think his skin color played a part in his hiring, but considering we have hired more black DC's in the past 15 years than probably any other team in football, I think politics had something to do with it. Hope he goes because he's not getting it done and it shows on the field.
Why make this a race issue?
Ten Ton Hammer : 12/15/2014 1:12 pm : link
that's not relevant.
Time to blow it up
aquidneck : 12/15/2014 1:25 pm : link
or reassert the management structure. No one knows what the first scenario looks like, but as I said earlier, this is Reese's team now. He's the one on top and in the prime if his career.

Should be his decision whether or not TC goes. Either way he is directly accountable for results in the field.

Similarly, if retained, Coughlin must be given authority to run his own ship, choose his own coirdinators, Fewell and Quinn included.

then so is Kiwi, Herzlich, Kuhn, maybe even Snee.

Moore is back to the bench.

I hate to be the one to say it, but can we lay off of Herzlich for a bit... The guy has been as terrible as anyone to ever put on a blue uniform for most of his career, but why complain about him now when is is on the best stretch of games of his career. I for one think we probably don't win yesterday without the very good run support from Herzlich. Did you not notice him out there shedding blockers faster than a Golder Retriever on your favorite couch? He played like a real man in the run game, and this is just the latest example of him doing so lately. He is on a tear lately and I don't feel like now is the time to be singling him out for insults.

Herzlich's overall Giant career is not "terrible". He has been excellent on ST
