that no self respecting Giants fan can root for the dallas cowboys under any circumstances what so ever. It just can't be done. Ever. If you are under 50, study the history. See the arrogance that is jerry jones and Jimmy Johnson, the sheer ignorance, criminality and an almost never called push off move that is Mikey Irvin and the rest of South America's team in the 90's. Then watch the sanctimonious Roger the Dodger and Landry pray their way to suspect victories with the accomodating refs that dallas has always seemed to have every Sunday. This franchise has NOTHING to recommend it to any kind of good things at all. The fans wear tee shirts that say "And on the eighth day God created the cowboys." They said that there was a hole in the roof so that God could see His team play. The dallas "fans" disappear when the record sucks only to re-appear even more obnoxious if dallas is winning. And you can root for these guys? Seriously?
I understand the Philly thing, I really do. The whole jail thing and the low class behavior toward other fans and a tendency towards criminality, I get it. But nothing, I repeat nothing, is as bad as dallas and never will be.
If only both these teams could lose each time they play each other!
We haven't had a significant loss to the Cowboys since 1993. We have lost to the eagles twice in the playoffs, and MITM part II
I'd rather see Dallas win ten in a row while beating the Giants in the NFCCG each time before seeing Philly win one.
Giddy up Cowboys.
Into the late 90s and the 2000s, the hatred changed to Donovan McNabb, Brian Dawkins, and Brian Westbrook (I was there for that 2003 punt return, I still remember the way Giants' fans filed out of the stadium so silently, while a few Eagles' fans gloated).
Basically, if you're playing for the Eagles, my feelings for you range from a deep dislike to a deep hatred. It was a trying time when Mark Bavaro was briefly an Eagle, I can tell you that.
Compare that to the Cowboys. It's not possible to hate Tom Landry, especially since he's the Giants' most famous defensive coordinator of all time (that said, knowing he eventually turned his back on the Cowboys and became a Giants fan again gives me a happy). The Hershel Walker/Danny White era was hardly a period of time to developed much of any venom. In the 90s, I didn't hate Jimmy Johnson, Troy Aikman, or Emmitt Smith. I hated Michael Irvin, and years later, Flozell Adams. I didn't like them, but I respected them. Same thing for Tony Romo and Jason Witten. It was hard to dislike Miles Austin, when he's the most successful football player from your alma mater. I don't like Jerry Jones' arrogance, but since you know that sooner or later, that arrogance will be at the detriment of his team, I can't hate him.
Did I root for the Cowboys last night? No, I rooted for a tornado. I root against whoever losing helps the Giants more. In the absence of that, I root against both teams, but the Eagles just a little more. I dislike the Cowboys, strongly at times. I hate the Eagles. And like others said, I'd rather the Cowboys win the next 10 Super Bowls than see the Eagles win one.
It comes down to where you're from, who you know, etc. If you grew up around a lot of frontrunning Cowboy fans in NY who have never even been to Dallas, you probably hate the Cowboys qutie a bit.
If you grew up in Jersey (especially South Jersey), you probably knew/know a lot of shitty Eagle fans and can't stand them.
Everyone has their reasons for hating one team more than the other or both equally or whatever.
It doesn't matter. Everyone wants the same thing. They want Dallas to choke and keep their playoff win total at 1 since 1996 and for the Eagles to never win a Super Bowl.
There should be no argument.
Two of the most heartbreaking losses in franchise history were against the Eagles (1978, 2010). Compare those with the three utterly depressing losses I can think of right away with the Cowboys (1993 Week 17, 1995 Week 1, 2003 Week 2). Sorry, no contest.
BTW the cameras focus a lot more on former Giants TE coach, Mike Pope, than when he was with the Giants. Maybe it's because the Cowboys have TEs who aren't shit.
For the Skins, it's easily the Cowboys.
Ravens? Stillers.
But who do we hate the most? Who is our biggest rival?
Eagles? Cowboys? Or "depends" on the year.
Heck, who do Iggle fans or Cowboys fans hate the most?
Generally, Philly fans are bad anywhere. Dallas fans in NJ/NY are FAR worse than Dallas fans in Dallas. It comes down to which can you tolerate more. For me, if Dallas wins it'll suck but it's something we've dealt with before. If Philly wins the whole region (I live in SJ) will explode with "You guys suck and, oh by the way, we're #1" attitude that will make me want to vomit. If Philly could handle just being #1 then it wouldn't be as bad. I want neither to win, but if one has to win, for me it's Dallas and I'm no less a Giants fan for it.
The only decision now is Anak or Brett.
But the Eagles are born of Satan.
Eagles are in bad shape. The Lions will win any tie with them because they've already clinched a better conference record. Their best shot is to beat out Dallas because they'll have a better division record.
I'm not that old. But you should respect your elders.
Ughhhh. I just threw up in my mouth a little.

here tell the young whippersnappers what to think. Go back to sleep grandpa.

all of them?
As I've lived through all of that I couldn't agree more with GFL although he did leave out the decades of fawning and ballwashing by ESPN and now the NFL Network.
I will never, ever, NEVER root for the Cowboys.
Yeah! What he said! Suck shit.. lol
I can't believe some were actually rooting for Dallas against philly. Nauseating.
I can't blame them I guess. But you could fucking move. Do your part.
Eagle fans are mutant but at least they are fucking loyal and legit. Il give em that. Dallas fans in north jersey are the worst. YANKEE DALLAS fans in this area represent the lowest form of life on the planet.
Slam dunk for me. Dallas can never ever ever ever win again in the NFL. Never. Think Laker and Yankee fans but worse. And I am a Yankee fan.
1) Giants win Super Bowl
2) Eagles do not win Super Bowl ever
That's it.
If someone on the internet I've never met feels otherwise, oh well.
And as for grandpas, you young whippersnappers are spoiled, I tell ya. Ya should be grateful, the whole damn lot of ya. LOL
And last point, I totally agree with the comments above about dallas fans. I lived in texas two years, two months and twenty nine days and was witness to a lot of crap. But I do have to say that I did meet some dallas fans I did, *gulp*, like. It's the WV and East coast bandwagon riding assholes I don't like either.
I wish I could be more positive and talkin' Giants playoff football, for cryin' out loud. Now all I have is watching my most hated teams fail and that sucks. Maybe next year............
Dallas: I hate the team more than their fans.
So I wanted the Eagles to win just so that the Dallas hype would stop, and it's fun seeing Jerrah all sad and bent out of shape regarding his team.
Ideally, if both could lose that's the better option, but realistically that's not possible. So I would root for the Eagles so that I can see a sad Jerrah. Cue 2007 picture of sad Jerrah with 00:00 seconds on the clock.
I'd rather see Dallas win ten in a row while beating the Giants in the NFCCG each time before seeing Philly win one.
This.
And we don't have a chance to play the spoiler role by knocking out the Cowboys from the playoff run. We may have that chance with the Eagles in the final game. That would make that final game actually mean something more.
I can't believe some were actually rooting for Dallas against philly. Nauseating.
It's called picking the lesser of two evils.
What I find nauseating is when fans tell other fans who they should root for...
However, one of the great things about that is that how much the Eagles fans HATE to lose to the Cowboys. When it's at home, in a big game, where a win basically seals the deal for the playoffs but it's snatched away by Dez Bryant repeatedly TD spiking the ball all the way down Broad Street. Oh you can just smell the misery. I think the only thing an Eagles fan would hate worse would be having to watch Troy Aikmian and Emmitt Smith do high fives as they double teamed their sister (and not young versions either, the current old men so it takes that much longer) Even then there are a good 20-30% that would rather watch that then the Eagles lose to Dallas.
I live around the Philly area so you really don't have to hear to much about the game afterwards, you just enjoy the weeping and moaning as the realization sinks in that they are in the midst of enduring yet another heartbreaking and soul crushing season.
Unfortunately it's not the Giants that can cause this amount agony to Eagles fans who are, quite honestly, the most deserving fanbase in all of sport.
You can't just tell someone to hate one team more than the other.
Personally, I know a handful of the frontrunner Cowboy fans from NY who have never even been to Texas, have no relatives there and just fucking suck complete ass and are the worst football fans on the planet. Between that and "Americas Team" and Jerry Jones and all the hype every year over this stupid fucking mediocre football team, it makes me nauseous and I can't stand them.
I personally don't know any Eagles fans.. I don't live in an area where any even really exist (I'm sure there are a few, I don't know them).. so it's easier for me to not have to hear about it when the Eagles are good or win. If I don't watch ESPN, it's entirely avoidable.
That said, I still fucking hate the Eagles. I hope they never ever win a Super Bowl and if they sucked forever it wouldn't be long enough.
As long as Dallas doesn't win a playoff game and the Eagles don't win the Super Bowl, I am happy. Those are the 2 outcomes I need for each team each year for me to be content.
