Assuming in an alternate universe where Gilbride was still coach and Eli had a halfway decent line to give him time.. Do you think he would have taking a couple years to learn that complicated offense and would not be the monster he is today? or do you think that vertical attack would have suited him? I dont think he would have been the monster he is so early.. esp with missing training camp...
But, if you like watching him catch 7 yard passes, fine.
You're a clown.
"I can't stop the option routes"
As you can see, Reuben Randle has not "flourished" with the coaching change and is one more discipline situation away from a permanent spot in the doghouse.
Both BM and KG would find a way to get OBJ the ball. Anything less is just plain dumb.
You know who didn't? The receivers that sucked.
The myth that you had to be a genius to play receiver in that offense was born out of Jerrel Jernigan sucking and Randle making mistakes. And, surprise, both are still true in the new offense.
Gilbride's system fell apart because Reese let the OL go to shit and the WR talent wasn't enough once Nicks broke down.

I have to disagree with you. Randle didn't flourish mostly because of his lack of work and his lack of understanding. He has still struggled because of the former and also because he is still not making correct reads when he needs to.
Manningham, by the way, was very similar to Randle before he hurt his knee. He was very talented and capable of big plays, but often made mental mistakes in the old offense.
Plus there is the obvious too. A lot of the vertical passing concepts are 5 and 7 step drop. If by chance, we were still in the old system, I think we would be in trouble. I use the Eagles game as the example. We got away from the passing concepts used earlier. We got the shit kicked out of us. I would expect games like that if we were in the old system.
disagree.
there have been more receivers that have failed in KG's offense than receivers that have thrived in it...a lot of them are sitting at home on their couch because of it.
I can only think of 3 or 4 receivers that were outstanding in that offense... Toomer, Steve Smith, Victor Cruz and most of Hakeem's career as a Giant....Shockey, Bennett, Plax, Manningham and a whole bunch of others were never consistent enough with their routes.
But, if you like watching him catch 7 yard passes, fine.
He averages 13.7 yards per reception, 40th in the league.

Same old broken record on every offensive topic

It's hilarious to read. He never says anything of value.

Not sure what ODB yards per has to do with anything.

My fault.

LM,
From what I remember, we took between 4-5 games to adjust, and go to quick passing concepts that weren't 5 and 7 drops and their associated longer depth routes.
Enjoy it now, because someone will figure how to slow him down and it won't be the scheme.
