NFT: WTF is going on with Bargnani?

DanMetroMan : 12/15/2014 9:40 am
" Nobody seems certain, even, what his injury is about anymore. There was an early hamstring problem followed by a strained calf. His problem is still listed as a strained right hamstring on the game notes. “Strained hamstring, calf, whatever it is,” Phil Jackson said last week. “We’ve gone through all of it: dietary, sleep patterns, etc., stress.”

One of the biggest bums in NY sports history.
He sucks.
Ten Ton Hammer : 12/15/2014 9:45 am : link
That's what's going on.
He's terrible. He's soft. He's not someone I ever
kmed : 12/15/2014 9:47 am : link
want to see on the floor again. He's someone that was blessed with amazing physical tools and has done almost nothing with them. Not sure about his current situation though.
One of the worst trades in the history of the Knicks and that is

saying something.
that whole debacle of a trade
Enzo : 12/15/2014 9:51 am : link
was one of the few times nearly all of us agreed on something...and we were all right.
Lol.

Find the thread, it's simply not true. A lot of people were on board with this trade suggesting that giving up what should be a late first is meaningless in the NBA.
I was one who thought
nygiants16 : 12/15/2014 10:01 am : link
the pick was meaningless and that Bargs could turn it around in New York being the 2nd fiddle behind Melo an dnot having the pressure on him...

Boy was i wrong

I remember most people killing the deal even before the final details were announced. Are you trying to make it like you weren't the only one who loved it at the time? lol...
I hated the trade because
kmed : 12/15/2014 10:02 am : link
I hate that we always throw in picks like they grow on trees, but I did think the trade made us better, due to Bargnani's "skill set". Boy was I wrong too.
The guy was a loser in Toronto
LawrenceTaylor56 : 12/15/2014 10:02 am : link
and they couldn't wait to get rid of him. We give up a first for him.

Sigh. Depressing.

I remember you and I were on the same page. We continually bashed the Knicks from throw ins in trades. Throw in a 1st rounder. Who cares, it's a late first, its meaningless. Throw in a few 2nds. Who cares, we can buy more. Throw in Mozgov. Who cares, he sucks. I do remember that you and I were in the minority during that conversation. YOu are clearly misremembering the thread.
Mozgov does suck. That wasn't a watershed moment for the franchise.

all you have to do is assume every Knick
Enzo : 12/15/2014 10:20 am : link
trade is going to work out poorly even without knowing who's in the deal. You'd be correct the vast majority of the time for nearly every trade going back 15 years or so (basically everything post Oak for Camby).

After 3-4 years of being a 7 footer that averages less than 6 rebounds a game.

his rate stats have always been solid. He was never going to get big minutes once they traded for McGee. When you consistently (and needlessly) give away solid rotation players (and picks), you end up with a below average bench comprised of players picked up off the scrap heap.
Moz has carved a nice little niche for himself.
kmed : 12/15/2014 11:06 am : link
He certainly doesn't and hasn't sucked. He was raw and he's put in some good time now. I'd like to have him as would multiple other teams that have tried to trade for him.
Considering

the assumption is there will be MASSIVE roster turnover next year this list of American players playing over seas who might come to the NBA next year is worth a look.

Bargnani at his peak vs. Frederic Weis at his peak.

Italian dressing (or, in this case, undressing) vs. French toast.
