Yesterday he did some good stuff, and some dumb stuff. On balance, there was more good. The talent is obvious, but the cranial-rectal pressure from which he sometimes suffers aside, he almost looks like he's playing the wrong position.
Loved Bobby's reaction when Moore chased him down from behind. Sorta like, "How'd that happen?" I haven't liked it when the Giants have dropped DL's into pass coverage, and Kiwi started as a promising DE before becoming a not great LB. But I just can't shake the idea that Moore has the body and physical skills of 3-4 OLB.
And I don't necessarily want to see the Giants play 3-4, but it just looks like Moore might have the potential to be special in the right position. Seems a shame to have to use him to do thing for which he might not be best suited.
His biggest issue is his brainfarts.
This. He's 22, and shown some flashes. Yes, he's better than Kiwi, but it's more than that. He's gotten some pressure. He does need to get stronger and play smarter, but there is more than enough about him to be optimistic about the future.
We also dont win either of the two Super Bowls had it not been for Osi. Moore has a place on this team as a pass-rush specialist at worst. At best, he gains weight, plays the run better and can be trusted in all scenarios.
Why? The coach.
We need a top UDFA DT and also some draft picks to replace Kiwi, Patterson and maybe Kuhn, Jenkins (age).
This defense needs to get lucky with free agency, have the injured return to health, and have a great draft to rebound. There are an awful lot of holes and our rankings prove it.
At DT, Jenkins is under contract, and might have enough left to let the Giants phase Bromley into the lineup gently. Either way, though, it's a problem if Bromley hasn't shown enough to establish himself as an eventual starter. If the team deems it necessary to commit a big chunk of free-agent money to defensive tackle, it will mean skimping elsewhere - possibly at DE, S, or - like 2013 - at LB.
