With his 3 TD game on Sunday Eli Passed Hall of Famers Dan Fouts and Sonny Jurgenson on the All- Time TD list. He has 255, with 2 games to go this season. Of the 12 names in front of him only 2 are not/will not be enshrined in the Hall of Fame. The rest are all in or are most likely first ballot guys. A couple more years of decent seasons (20 TD) and he'll be amongst the top 10 all time. He is currently 15th all time in passing yards, again a couple of decent seasons (3,000) away from the top 10. That is more then hall of fame worthy if you ask me. Not to mention his playoff success and those 2 SB MVP's. So please stop this nonsense talk of finding another QB. We have an all time great.
Well the stupid faces is something that the tv networks look for. Any time Eli throws an int or makes a bad decision, watch the camera man zoom in on Eli. I think NFL network had a thing called Faces of Eli not too long ago.
Anyway, glad to see him passing some brand names. Talk about the QB-friendly era all you want - a lot of good QBs won't climb as high on these lists as Eli will.
1) Has Eli earned a place in the Hall of Fame (and, if not, will he do so before he's done);
and
2) Should the Giants move on from Eli?
These are two very different questions. Brett Favre punched his ticket to Canton well before 2008, but the Packers were still right to promote Rodgers. Peyton Manning was a mortal lock for the HoF before 2012, but the Colts were right to draft Luck. Even Ernie Accorsi heard the bell tolling for Johnny U. and climbed on the Bert Jones bandwagon.
In the Giants' case, I don't think anyone is pushing to start the Ryan Nassib era. The question - if any question exists - is whether they should commit to Eli beyond 2015. As for the Hall of Fame, I couldn't care less.

Brett Favre was 38 years old when the Packers decided to move on from him and Peyton was two neck surgeries deep when the Colts moved on from him with the cant-miss QB prospect coming into the draft. Nowhere near the same scenario the Giants have with a 33 year old, healthy Eli Manning in either case.
and 10th all time in TD passes
the stats arent going to qualify eli for anything

Not alone, no. But add 26 4th Q comebacks putting him 10th all time. Add tied 12th all time for game winning drives. Next factor that streak of starts Eli has making him of an Iron man of sorts who can be relied on to start week in and week out and 2 SB title and MVPs, and he is in.
Now all he has to do it keep putting up numbers. If all goes well he will be top 10 in Tds, passing yards, 4th Q comebacks and game winning drives. You do that with 2 SB wins in the bank, then he will get in. He is a Manning and first family of football so that will factor in. It's like his name is Jones or Smith.
You mean Harry Carson?
(Before it comes up, I don't think Brees should get in either but he has hype so he might.)
A few years from now, it may take 75,000 yards and 500 TD passes to be considered if this shit keeps up. Eli has earned a HOF ticket already, IMO. Without him, a great team wouldn't have won 2 Superbowls.
And yes, to BBB: I'd take the chance and re-sign Eli for another 4-5 years.
BUT... now this is a big but. I just feel there will be so many people who will a) look at his interception number and b) feel he wasn't the BEST of his time, when there is Peyton/Brady/Brees/Rodgers/Rothlisburger/Rivers etc... While he is ahead of Roth/Rivers/Rodgers in TD's he has worse TD/INT ratio and Passer rating stats
If he never wins another Superbowl, he needs to at the very least put up 25/15 type numbers for a while. Passing Fran Tarkenten to get into the top 6 discussion would probably seal the deal.
but whether he is a first ballot HOF or not still is uncertain. If he gets another ring, then no doubt. If he lights up the league for the next 5+ years like Brady/Peyton have he's probably an auto include.
I am just afraid too many people will just remember the INT's and the "aww shucks" style, though what they should remember are the TD winning throws to beat the Patriots in 2 superbowls.
