Just getting caught up on Rangers threads and just saw your news. Really sorry, man..

From experience (with my Ma) I can say that it doesn't get better with time, just a little less shitty. Hopefully you have siblings you can lean on each other with while you grieve..

For the rest of you disappointed by a non call out, let's hear some stories about enjoying a Giants game with your Pops.

Suck it, fish.

My condolences are with you, PG

Very nice of you Davisian, thank you. Class act even from another time zone. Thanks as well Anak. Looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow and resuming some normalcy.

Despite the crap sandwich of a Giants season, their win yesterday as well as my Isles in their past 2 (I know you're considerably less enthused) have helped immensely. As have many of the good folks here. Thanks all.
What happened?

My father passed away last week (his health was deteriorating but his passing came at an unexpected point). Sad to have not had any Giants-related experiences with him in my 44 years...he was not a "sports guy"...but having missed out on that, it's a big reason why it's been so special to share my love of the Giants and Islanders with my sons (who are almost 10 and are rabid fans). That said, due a lot of distance between us - Dad was in FL and I'm in MD - I miss him no matter what sports he did or didn't like. But you get lifted by thinking of the good times and hearing from friends, and certainly from the good guys here on BBI.
Non sports guy?
Davisian : 12/16/2014 12:36 am : link
So you being an isles fan was by choice? dipshit..

But yeah, distance ain't nothin but a number, enjoy those memories you had together..

Sorry to hear of your loss, pganut

I lost my father when I was 21 and my mother when I was 27. You'll always feel the loss, but over time your memories shift from a focus on the difficult time when he struggled with illness to the happier times you had with him. At least that was my experience.
So sorry for your loss...

Hang in there my friend.
Jesus, Milt, I didn't know that..

A Wharton grad who created his own movie, they must have been so disappointed in you...

But seriously, that's some tough shit to go through at a young age, good for you to get busy living.

Condolences.
My relationship with my dad was always strained likely due to family business together, but when Sundays in the fall came, we let all our differences go away for a day and bonded like at no other time.
I'm very sorry for your loss.
Crispino : 12/16/2014 7:16 am : link
in time the pain will ease a bit and you will be able to focus on all of the wonderful aspects of his legacy that are part of your life. May God bless him and everyone who loved him.
Thanks again everyone. I sincerely appreciate it. It's meant a lot.

Milton - if you see this, as a fellow Sachem HS alum, last night's goalie for the Devils, Keith Kinkaid, played pretty damn well in losing to my Islanders (I wanted to see that outcome occur and for the kid to have played well, which is what happened)...he is the first Sachem alum to skate in the NHL. Always neat to see when some of the folks from back home do well.

Get the fuck back on the Ranger threads, shitbag. You've been far too absent this year.

(Kinda like me in the SCF, amirite?! LOLOLOLL)

But seriously. Cut the shit.

I'm truly sorry for your loss. My father isn't well at the moment, I'm also 44 and the thought of losing him at such a young age is difficult to bear. My best to you and yours.

So that means between Jeff Ruland, Neil Heaton, Jumbo Elliot, and Keith Kinkaid, we now have all four majors covered!

Lost my dad

At 21. I was way too young obviously. I wish he was around now to see my family. You are very lucky pganut to have him around as long as you did. Granted it's still too short but you get it. You will be fine.
My condolensces too, PGA fan
MetsAreBack : 12/16/2014 5:56 pm : link
sorry to hear about this. We Rangers & Isles fans fuck around with each other a lot - but from my point of view at least, its always in good fun and we like all of you except Fish and hudson.

I hope that, while sudden and unexpected, his passing was peaceful and know that he is in a better place now watching over you and the family. You will see him again one day. No doubt.

All the best.

Hey Hey, Hudson isn't one of ours. He's one of yours, and the penguins and the devils and the... well I'm not going to list every team now. Just not one of ours!
Yea
