Does anyone think that Beckham Jr. returning punts is a dangerous move? He is too valuable to risk doing that! Returning that punt at the end of the Skins game was just plain stupid...Special teams coach should use his head and protect our #1 asset whenever possible.
I am holding out hope that we play the Rams tough and a break-away punt return could go a long way for us!

also make the argument that at this stage, why play OBJ at all, why take the risk when the games are meaningless.
That is not the same argument at all. He is developing as a WR, gaining chemistry with Eli. His future is at WR. Not punt returner.
In general, star players do not play specials. The only reason OBJ is returning punts is because he is a young player. It was understandable at first but it makes no sense now that he has emerged as a generational talent.
understand your point - deion sanders returned punts for his entire career as a generational talent at CB; and the rewards outweighed any downside.

I don't want him leaving his bed.
How do they get his bed to the bench with him in it?
Sounds more dangerous than returning punts.
As for the other returns - you play to win the game - you put your best players in the best spots to make plays. This is the job of the head coach. Beckham can get hurt just as easily running a crossing route or shallow cross against the grain with oncoming safeties or linebackers looking to line him up.
Should we eliminate those plays from the playbook so he doesn't get hurt? Hell, why even play the fucking kid if all of these games are "meaningless"? Ask that question of someone who actually plays the fucking game and they'll look like you're outta your gourd.
It's pretty simple stuff that some of the mouthbreathers like oipoloi just cannot grasp.
The only argument I can see for NOT using Beckham to punt return is that it could possibly tire him for his receiver job.
He famously was inserted in the playoffs to return punts. Hence, the difference between "meaningful" and "meaningless games."
Deion did not agree with the decision and he did go back to returning punts later in his career.
Deion was also one of the most explosive returners in history. He had 6 TD returns. If OBJ was on his level as a returner, then maybe you could justify it. So far, he has not demonstrated that.
Also, most star WRs would probably be fairly good punt returners, but most of them don't do it--because in general, it is not a good idea. This is especially true with a young player. A veteran is going to have a much better idea of when to FC. Young players make mistakes by trying to do too much.
But you all know this. If the Jets were risking a star player like this, you would all be laughing at Rex. But because it's the Giants you feel compelled to defend it.
No. It's a matter of risk/reward. The risk is too great for the best offensive weapon this franchise has seen. They took Tiki out of that spot, once it was clear he was our offensive MVP. Plus, has he even been getting better than average yardage on his returns?
No matter how much people want to make this into an arguable debate, it isn't. at least not to anyone who isn't an idiot.

is there any other team in NFL in which the team's number 1 receiver is also returning punts?
None. Except for the several examples listed above.
