I've always found FO to be an effective resource when considering players and teams--especially if you're in a pool. (Seriously, you can go pretty far using this site.) It takes the conventional stats like QB rating and adds the strength of the opposing defense.
I'm seriously pro-Eli, so I found his ranking of 23 (out of 40) pretty discouraging. (Of course, Football Outsiders doesn't consider the play of the offensive line.)

They have Kirk Cousins above him. Shitty article. Case closed.
All above Eli. Come on! Garbage analysis.
If you have watched all of the QB's listed above play this season, I am not sure how ANYONE could say that they are better than Eli.
Eli is a gambler. He fits perfectly with a talent like OBJ.
As long as Coughlin gets out of the way with balance and the running game--which I think he will next year--this offense is going to be explosive once they get an OL that can pass protect.

Who cares?

Funny, we both have the same middle name for Orton.
He's, in general, an average statistical QB this season, which is at least somewhat better than that when you consider the weak team he's surrounded with and what he's bouncing back from himself. Focusing on one single statistic and getting discouraged by it is foolish.
The offense is still short handed. The OL, assuming Schwartz is OK and Richburg is good at center, is one starter and one good backup short of a full deck. We still need another WR and probably a blocking TE. We still need another RB.
But if we happen to get this ship turned around, and we find this team playing in a big playoff game before too long, and Eli has the ball in his hands down 4, to an NFL powerhouse team that is everyone's favorite to win everything and there are 2 minutes left on the clock--and the opposing crowd is going bananas and everything hangs in the balance...we all want Eli Manning under center and these rankings would be better served to wipe my ass.
Not one Giants fan can sit here and say they weren't at least a little concerned about the 2013 offense. The passing game and NYG offense overall was as bad as I have ever seen. And I have seen some bad NYG offenses over the years.
We still suck kind of but there's a lot more reason to be hopeful going into 2015 then there was going into 2014. Eli seems to have gotten his confidence back. The arrow is pointing up.
I'd love to see this offense pull a game out late this coming week or next week against Philly. We still haven't really seen Eli win a game late against a quality team in a while. We all know he can do it but it would still be nice to see it happen.
FO are not imbeciles.
Stats -- including theirs -- are a tool, supporting evidence to be weighted within the appropriate context. They are not absolute black/white proof of anything; football isn't a sport like baseball, in that way, where things mostly are what they are in number form.
If people use them that [incorrect] way, that's on them.

One of the better posts I've read on here regarding stats.
And Kyle F. Orton LOL.
Last year you could argue that Eli was having a miserable season (the OL was a part of that). This year he's quietly had a decent year despite still having a crappy OL and only one weapon on offense.
Someone said once that Eli Manning is a football IQ test and I'm starting to think they're right.
