Here's an update on some stuff. Not so much new stuff, but posting helps me to get feedback (and fix errors).
Note: All analysis assumes no tie games the rest of the season.
================
2015 Schedule
===============
The Giants have clinched 3rd place. This means they will play the 3rd place teams in the NFC North and West in 2015.
AFC East: NE, NYJ, at BUF, at MIA
NFC South: CAR, ATL, at TB, at NO
NFC North 3rd place team: at MINN or at CHI
NFC West 3rd place team: STL or SF
STL is one game behind SF. If they finish with the same record STL takes 3rd place.
CHI is one game behind MIN. If MIN beats CHI, MIN finishes 3rd.If CHI beats MIN they will finish 3rd unless CHI loses to DET and MIN beats MIA.
=====================
The PHI game
======================
PHI-NYG as a 1:00 game will be playoff relevant at kickoff.
Exception: If PHI loses to WAS and DAL beats IND, PHI is eliminated prior to week 17.
PHI playoff chances could vanish during the PHI-NYG game.
If DAL beats PHI, DAL wins division unless PHI has a better record in the last 2 than DAL does. (So if DAL wins their last 2, DAL wins division.)
The DAL opponents are IND and WAS.
The PHI opponents are WAS and NYG.
While PHI has no way to win tiebreaks against any team other than DAL, DAL would beat SEA in a 2 way tie and possibly beat GB in a two way tie.
=========================
DRAFT ORDER:
=========================
The Giants are currently #8. Their SOS is very close to that of the #9 team (CHI).
Giants finish 5-11: Highest #6, Lowest #9
Giants finish 6-10: Highest #7, Lowest #12
Giants finish 7-9: Highest #8, Lowest #15
TB, TEN, JAC, OAK and WAS will pick ahead of the Giants. Then comes:
6 NYJ@ 3-11 NE, at MIA
7 ATL 5-9 at NO, CAR
8 NYG 5-9 at STL, PHI
9 CHI 5-9 DET, at MIN
10 CAR 5-8-1 CLE, at ATL
11 MIN# 6-8 at MIA, CHI
[NO 6-8 ATL, at TB current division leader, division winner cannot pick earlier than #21)]
12 STL@ 6-8 NYG, at SEA
13 HOU## 7-7 BAL, JAC
14 CLE# 7-7 at CAR, at BAL
15 MIA 7-7 MIN, NYJ
SF@@ 7-7 will pick behind the Giants
Tiebreakers (based on strength of schedule):
## - will pick ahead of Giants in case of a tie
# - very likely to pick ahead of Giants in case of a tie
@ - very likely to pick behind Giants in case of a tie
@@ - will pick behind Giants in case of a tie
The tiebreaker is based on SOS, which involves adding up the wins for the games the teams don't have in common. For example, the redskins and giants tiebreak was decided by the opponents the they didn't have in common. WAS played TB and MIN while the Giants played DET and ATL.
WAS: TB wins + MIN wins = 8
NYG: DET wins + ATL wins = 15
Since TB and MIN only have a total of 4 games left, this tiebreak is decided.
:shudder:
:shudder:
a remote possibility.
At least we won a few meaningless games!
Thanks.
Thanks.
What do you mean?
Thanks.
Maybe you mean under the heading "2015 schedule". Those teams are all on the Giants 2015 schedule.
Somehow, I don't think both of those will happen, maybe neither.
Drafting 10th seems reasonable.
No it tells us we horribly managed this franchise

what does that tell you about the rest of the league? Very mediocre!

The order of the draft is not determined by the team's management. And they would never tank the end of a season just for draft order.
Troll harder.
