@ConorTOrr: Via @HowardShatsky, Giants are giving TE Jerome Cunningham a shot on the active roster. Looked great in camp. Southern Conn. State product
@HowardShatsky: Congrats 2 my client & friend Jerome Cunningham @J_Cunningham49 on his move 2 the #Giants 53 man roster! Hard work pays off! #NFL #PFM
AR and Fells: 1 is likely gone next camp.
"bench booger"! I like it!
Also means one open PS spot.
Not ideal.
Did run a 4.70 at his pro day.
A poor-man's Aaron Hernandez?
Cunningham, 6-3 and 214 pounds, played at Southern Connecticut State University from 2009-12. In four years, he caught 61 passes for 690 yards (11.3-yard average) and seven touchdowns. He is a native of Waterbury, Conn.
The Giants filled the opening on their practice squad by signing Nikita Whitlock, who was a defensive tackle at Wake Forest but a fullback in training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Whitlock joined the Bengals as a rookie free agent on May 12. He played in all four preseason games before being waived on Aug. 30. Whitlock did two stints on the Dallas’ Cowboys’ practice squad, the last of which ended on Nov. 4.
In four seasons at Wake Forest, Whitlock played in 47 games with 45 starts. He was a first-team All-ACC selection in 2013, when he had 82 tackles, including 19 for losses and nine sacks."
