I agree, they could dump him without kicking in $, but surprisingly it seems they would rather trade Gee despite the extra savings.

It's always made way too much sense to not explore, and honestly even if it doesn't happen i'm extremely happy to hear that they've even been investigating it. Thor, Gee, and 1 more solid piece (Plawecki) would be about as much as I'd be willing to deal if they're also accepting the full risk of the contract. And it goes without saying they'd have to be really confident in the medical.

Throws really hard. Touches upper 90's on his FB but doesn't generate many swings and misses and doesn't strike a ton of guys out considering how hard he throws. I think the question with him has always been whether he can develop enough secondary stuff to go along with his FB because he throws it a ton and the only other pitch he really uses is a slider.
3.37 FIP last year, still a young guy with upside.
