and the other movie if you think there might be backlash?
Guess they had no clue that KJI and KJU were/are a US enemy; or maybe just going right to DVD sales.
Hollywood is full of stupid.
I'm guessing this is probably because they didn't buy the rights
the theatres that were going to show it were just making a point/being cheeky. there is no need to inflame a tense situation. there are plenty of avenues to mock/criticize the DPRK leadership.
there's more going on behind the scenes that we know about.
It makes absolutely no sense for these companies to do this. It's God awful PR, costs money, and now that we're almost positive that it's North Korea and not local terrorists/hackers, there's little to know reason (on the surface) to believe that an actual attack could happen.
the DPRK hacked Sony's website and threatenedthat if the movie gets displayed there will be another 9/11 type attack. they have tested nuclear weapons. i would call that tense.

They have tactical nukes only. Nothing to reach US borders.
Now South Korea could get destroyed but that threat has been there since the South split off.
KLJ just rattling Sabres again.

not sure if serious
don't underestimate an angry totalitarian country with a massive military with a young leader that is eager to show that he is not some snot-nosed pushover and literally millions of subjects who are brainwashed to the point that they would die for their "dear leader".

I think you crossed so far into overestimating him territory that it will be faster to just keep going and circle around the globe to come back...

Yeah, the North Koreans are going to gather 50,000 peasants and throw a nuke at us. They have no flight delivery systems and no ability to get a nuke here using other means. Their nukes are the equivalent of a Masters-Level engineer's accomplishment.
HH referenced the Hayes code that was imposed in the 1930s by which Hollywood agreed to censor the sexual content of films
Hollywood also buckled under during the McCarthy era and blacklisted writers, directors, and and actors, many of whom were Jewish artists and intellectuals--in what was basically an extension of Hitlerism into America (btw, those are Marty Glickman's words, not mine.)
This is just the latest example, and is far less egregious than the two instances I mentioned above.
South Korea would be the victim of any North Korean move. In a Terrorism sense they could massacre Seoul from conventional arms alone. They could not sustain their military overseas other than this hacking offensive. Is Red Dawn the re-make the next to be put down by Hollywood?
over reaction, unless there is more to this than we've been told, which is possible. I don't think they have a long range missile that can reach Hawaii, which would put the president in danger (he's headed to the islands) so unless they have a substantial network of agents in the US, this sounds like appeasement.
No one was afraid to make fun of Saddam on Hot Shots!
That's because he was presented as a mighty warrior who battled Charlie Sheen to a standstill in a sword fight. In fact, Charlie only defeated Saddam by spraying him with a fire extinguisher--an early indication that Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction.
not going to be shown in Asia? So what North Korea is
saying is that they have a right to determine what movies
are going to be seen in America. Does that seem right to
you?
If there is even a hint of a Chinese connection we should
re-establish Military connections with Taiwan (station a division, an airbase, and port facilities) and create a massive Voice of America presence there transmitting into both China and North Korea telling their respective peoples how corrupt their governments are.
And tell China if it doesn't like that to fix its punk @$$ little B!tch of a client state or let the South Korean's do it (with our help) which I know they would like even less.

Of course not. The question is do we need to be wary of an actual retaliatory threat from NK. It isn't that we are cow-towing to them.
Having said all that, it appears the US is ready to strike back, and they are saying Show the fucking movie, so perhaps that's the tact to take?
when Iran gets the bomb (which certain members of this administration seem at best indifferent to, just as Korea got the bomb with the lobbying of Jimmy Carter) and somebody writes another "Satanic Verses". Iran announces it has a bounty/ fatwah on the author who is in America. Is our response to be just read the Fucking book and if so who will write the next book?

Hahahaha, great minds think alike.

@MMFlint
Dear Sony Hackers: now that u run Hollywood, I'd also like less romantic comedies, fewer Michael Bay movies and no more Transformers.
Or else'!
Love Kim.
The list of things the average American should be worrying about other than North Korea is long and distinguished, much like my johnson.

this is just a business decision
Gee, ya think????
The remake came out two years ago.
It actually managed to be worse than the original, which is quite a feat,
having actors pushing 30 cast as HS students didnt help

This made me LOL.
