The Braves are finalizing a trade of Justin Upton, tweets Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports. Late last night, Fangraphs Kiley McDaniel reported that Atlanta appeared to be down the road on a deal sending Upton to an AL West team for young pitching

Can't imagine the A's will keep all this pitching. Have to think they're prepping for a bigger move, like an Upton or Tulowitzki
The Braves have had recent talks with the A's, Rangers and Mariners about J-Up. The A's now have an attractive stock of pitchers.

Several reports that #Brave are closing in on Justin Upton deal. #Rangers are not the other team.
there SP is OK - Miller, Teahran, good bullpen, they look like a 75 win team now.
Sources: Justin Upton going to San Diego. @Ken_Rosenthal had it first. Padres strike again. A.J. Preller is a madman.
Welcome to Mets world!

It wouldn't surprise me if Swihart ends up as the centerpiece now. Middlebrooks sucks though, he has been seriously overrated since his rookie season.
david ross is signing with padres

You're not getting Hamels straight up for Betts.
Wait, isnt that reversed? Philly could not get Betts straight up for Hamels. Betts is not a free agent until 2021 and has Steamer projected fWAR of 2.5 for next season. Hamels is an expensive 30 year old pitcher who also has a 2.5 fWAR for next season.

Boston may not part with Betts, but one of the five or so best lefties in the game with four years of control at a slightly below market rate is going to get you Betts plus, no matter what some bullshit fWAR projection says. Boston still has a surplus of outfielders and a clear lack of front-end starting pitching.
Cheer up. You still have BJ Upton
Tulo? Got to think that would cost Walker++.
