"I feel good. I'm about nine and a half weeks post-surgery, so I'm on my own two feet right now," Cruz said. "The Doctors say they've never seen someone repair themselves this quickly before. So I just want to take my time, but make it a little [faster] at the same time. But I feel great." |
I merely have posted 3-4 articles from sports medical experts who said that Cruz's injury is career-threatening.
We had this same damn debate last year with David Wilson and I was told I was an idiot then too.
I do not know if this is one of the articles that Eric included.
However, what I found most interesting were the comments at the end of the article by David J.Chao, MD.

This YEAR? =)
Cruz a fave. Would love for his optimism to play out to reality, but team and we won't know for quite some time, certainly not until after next draft.
Injuries are unpredictable.....but when players have some type of history of injuries, or have not shown the ability to play a whole season, how do you sink money into them or flat out count on them the following year?
We walked away from Bradshaw, Nicks, etc.....Who do we walk away from next year?
As for Cruz, this is two straight years, and this one is much more serious......do you count on him, or do you get a replacement, and if he returns, it's like a bonus....same with Beason......
We all know you are a moron, but now you're resorting to making up shit?
PFT--No current contract talks for Randall Cobb - ( New Window )
Rooting for a comeback for Cruz, but there's a very bright silver lining here.
Guys coming away from playing with Peyton/Brees/Brady/Rodgers scare me due to their new home likely being a less effective offense.
like Eric said, we really don't know, and of course everyone is wishing for the best.
We've heard this song and dance before with many guys who said they are having a miraculous recovery and then they are out of football. And it has happened with this team a lot recently.
The odds are in favor of Cruz coming back close to 100% by all accounts. IN a few months when he starts testing the knee out we will know more, but i'll take this news as a positive.

Then we have people like Eric shitting on the news. It sort of is what it is...
I'm hedging my bets on those reports.
It appears in some ways, this is a more serious injury than an ACJ injury.
So why you may want to continue to say I'm being overly negative, I'm merely relaying what was reported. Same with David Wilson, Steve Smith, Terrell Thomas, Kenny Phillips, etc., etc. You probably threw some jabs at me for those guys too.
Besides, if you'd asked Cruz how he felt 10 minutes before the injury, he probably would have said, "Never felt better."
Cruz was the go to guy, the money player, the one to look to in the tough spot. Now that OBJ has arrived, Cruz will forever more be the second best WR on the Giants. The Giants don't need the Victor Cruz of old.... but it would be nice :)
The general public will know NOTHING about VC's health until draft day. If Reese thinks Cruz is returning to form, he'll ignore the WR position (in relative terms). If he jumps up and takes Cooper, you know Cruz's days are done.

I'm hoping for the best, but this injury is potentially career-affecting.
ODB on one side, Cruz in the slot and our first round draft choice on the other side.
Visions of Super Sunday dancing in my head.
Yeah baby!!!
You want to call it pessimism fine, but thats the reality.

However, hearing Cruz convey high optimism from his doctors shouldn't create negativity as displayed here.
Forget it--he's on a roll.
A) Is 100% par for the course
B) Doesn't amount to a hill of beans
This team needs another weapon. That's just a fact. As of now, we have Eli & ODB. That's it.
You don't spend a top ten pick on a number 2 receiver and the Giants already have their number 1 receiver in OBJ. Throw in the fact that it's possible that Cruz will be able to return and still play at a high level and the idea of taking a WR in the top ten becomes downright foolish.
This offense could have been pretty good this year if Schwartz, Cruz and Beckinham had remained healthy the whole year. We are like 14th right now with no OL and one wideout. If we had a few wideouts and Jerry was replaced by Schwartz we'd be at least 10th in yardage and points scored.
Randle also strikes me as a guy who will play his best when money--in the form of a new contract--is on the line.
If that's the player an absolutely perfect recovery is likely going to get him back to, then it's even more imperative that the Giants approach this offseason as though he only exists in cap terms and not count on him at all.
"WALK IT OFF VICTOR!"
