NFT: NYCFC: 1st 3 Games On Schedule Announced

Gene : 12/19/2014 11:33 am
The club will launch their inaugural MLS season in Florida vs Orlando on March 8, 5:00 PM on ESPN 2.

The first home game at Yankee Stadium takes place a week later on March 15 vs New England (time & tv tba).

Game three finds the team in Colorado on March 21.

NYRB open up in Kansas City on the 8th and their 1st home match will be on the 21st vs DC United.
Any word on who the 3rd DP will be?

Or any rumors?
Can't wait already
Go Terps : 12/19/2014 11:59 am : link
I'm excited for the new direction NYRB is taking. Youth movement with a focus on American players...exactly what I would have done in their shoes. That's the long term formula.

Also good to see DC United's stadium plan approved. Going to a match there was like stepping into the set of The Walking Dead. The stadium that time forgot.
There are

any number of rumors floating around as to who the 3rd DP could be, but there's really nothing solid to get excited about.

Personally I think the team is waiting for the Lampard situation to work itself out first and even then won't go after anyone until the January transfer window opens.
Will Kaka & Villa

I think the plan is for both to come back from their loans and join their MLS clubs for preseason training. Unless something changes, they should both be on the field for the opener.

Villa (NYCFC) and Kaka (Orlando) are good to go for their respective teams. It's the Lampard situation that has everyone up in arms.
I'll be getting tix from Villa

I only have been on a bus trip to the new stadium.

Tell him thanks for everything. What a player.

Good to see him come back. Now if Jozy would wise up and do the same...he's become a running joke in England.
Does NYRB
Pete in MD : 12/19/2014 1:55 pm : link
still own Jozy's MLS rights or would he have to go through the waiver system? I know they technically sold him way back when but the MLS rules are confusing.
As far as I know Jozy isn't tied to any MLS team
Go Terps : 12/19/2014 2:06 pm : link
But yeah the rules (particularly with American players in overseas leagues) are pretty complex so who knows.

Besides Jozy has said repeatedly he won't come back to MLS. I wonder if he's damaging his career at the behest of an inept national team coach. It's a shame...his confidence is at an absolute low point. He missed a crucial sitter of a goal a couple weeks ago that left him and everyone else watching slack jawed. He's awful right now.
FWIW

it looks as if all those "Mix Diskerud to Mexico is a done deal" reports may have been a tad premature.

According to an ESPN FC article Mix says if he signs with a club in North America it will be with MLS and not Liga MX.

I shall, my cuz Javi Fuego has made the arrangements. Javi lives in Villa's apt in Valencia, they are childhood friends from Gijon, and I shall. I hear he's a great person also...
